CITY OF MANISTEE PARKS COMMISSION MINUTES Thursday, June 15, 2017 Members Present: Mike Quinn, Erin Pontiac, Ed Tegler, Jason Sullivan, Lynn Vasquez Members Excused: None Unexcused: Mark Tomaszewski Also Present: Jeff Mikula, Mickey McCann, City of Manistee Roger Zielinski, Mayor Pro Tem Public Hearing: None Citizen Comments: None Motion to approve April 20 and May 18, 2017 minutes and place on file. All in Favor. Committee Reports Fifth Avenue Pickle ball court – painted and being used. Basketball rim, fence Vender by June 24th, 2017 Ordinance Change Request Increase to three non-residents and add school children in Manistee Area Public Schools as a qualifier. Motion by Tegler, second by Quinn to Request ordinance revision. Motion Approved. Rocket Park Barrier Accumulating driftwood Budgeted after July 1, 2017 Fifth Avenue Berm Sent letters to residents Supported berm removal overall Department of Public Works to begin the work requested next week Fire Pits Ordinance 1062.04 against (unless in grills). Ordinance Committee review to allow fires in pits camping as a special use permit. Adopt A Park Has this been forwarded to Denise for the city website. Yes Band Shell Update on status Open Discussion Vasquez suggested removing fountain on River Street and replacing with splash pad McCann updated Lighthouse Park upgrades First Street Beach Tennis Court – sand removed Riverwalk Maintenance update Thinned trees along riverwalk at Tamarack and Cedar Street Trees around softball diamonds Motion by Vasquez, second by Sullivan to explore adding additional trees, All in favor.
