City of Manistee Tree Commission Meeting Minutes April 15, 2024 Members Present John Helge, Sarah Stevenson, Sam Coram, Gerald Haw Members Absent Vidar Lerum Others Present Katie Trivisonno, DPW A meeting of the Manistee Tree Commission was called to order by Chair John Helge on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall. Approval of Agenda Approved. Public Comment Randy and Michelle Pepera, 221 Washington, expressed concerns about tree removal in the city right-of-way. Approval of Minutes Approval of meeting minutes from October 09, 2023. Unfinished Business Tree planting program-44 trees on order, planting will begin late April early May. Tree Commission Bylaws-Proposed revision to Section 7 Regular Meetings. All in favor. Approved. Recruitment of Tree Commission Members-Welcome Sarah Stevenson. Stevenson suggested advertising for commissioners on the city website and by word of mouth. New Business City of Manistee is a proud member of Tree City USA. The Tree Commission will be holding a ceremonial tree planting on Friday April 26, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Morton Park. Helge discussed possible grants for tree planting.
