Discussion and Action Items 24-1550 Jefferson Elementary School request for stop signs to be installed on South 15th at Division Street and on South 15th at Manila Street. Attachments: Jefferson Elementary School - Stop sign request Aerial Jefferson School - Prop. Stop Signs Principal Lisa Delsman of Jefferson Elementary School has proposed this request following a safety audit conducted on the school premises. The audit identified the top five measures to enhance student safety. The primary concern highlighted was the lack of control on the streets surrounding the school. Principal Delsman is advocating for the installation of stop signs at these intersections and suggesting the use of orange flags on the new signs to alert drivers to the changes. Moved by Beeman, seconded by DeBaets, that this Request be approved and referred to Council. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 4- Boldt, Beeman, Cummings and DeBaets 24-1551 Flashing pedestrian crosswalk on Waldo Boulevard at North 23rd Street. Lecher Moved by Cummings, seconded by DeBaets, that this Request be approved. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 4- Boldt, Beeman, Cummings and DeBaets 24-1553 Ordinance to amend Section 16.010 of the MMC regulating Building Regulations. Attachments: ORDINANCE TO AMEND 16.010 BUILDING REGULATIONS Moved by Cummings, seconded by DeBaets, that this Ordinance be approved and referred to Council. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 4- Boldt, Beeman, Cummings and DeBaets City of Manitowoc Page 3 Public Safety Committee Meeting Minutes June 10, 2024 24-1557 FEMA Port Authority Security Grant Attachments: Port Security Grant Request Port Security Grant 2024 Due to staffing issues the United States Coast Guard will not have Coast Guard presence in Manitowoc County. Applying for this grant presents an opportunity for Manitowoc Fire Rescue Department to secure funds to enhance the protection of our lakeshore and harbor. Moved by Cummings, seconded by Beeman, that this Request be accepted and referred to Council. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 4- Boldt, Beeman, Cummings and DeBaets 6. This meeting is being conducted both in Council Chambers at City Hall and via Zoom to maximize opportunities for residents to attend.
