900 Quay Street City of Manitowoc Manitowoc, WI 54220 www.manitowoc.org Meeting Minutes - Final Room Tax Commission Monday, November 16, 2020 5:45 PM City Hall Council Chambers and Via Zoom Pursuant to Section 19.84(2) and (3) of the Wisconsin Statutes, notice is hereby given to the public, to the Herald-Times-Reporter, the official newspaper of Manitowoc, and to those news media who have filed a written request for this notice that a meeting of the above-referenced will be held at the date, time and location listed above. Notice is hereby given that a majority of the Common Council of the City of Manitowoc, or a standing committee of that body, may be present at this meeting to gather information about the subject matter over which they have decision making responsibility. This meeting is being conducted both in Council Chambers at City Hall and via remote conferencing software due to a state of emergency and federal, state, and local guidance on gatherings. Members of the public may call to listen in at 877 853 5257 US Toll-free, Meeting ID: 797 899 7322 Password: Room Tax. The above governmental body will meet to discuss and possibly take action on the agenda items set forth below. Call to Order Roll Call Present: 6- Nickels, McMeans, Brey, Sitkiewitz, Reilly and Tegen Approval of Minutes 20-1111 Approval of 08-24-2020 Meeting Minutes Attachments: 08-24-2020 Meeting Minutes.pdf A motion was made by Alderman McMeans, seconded by Adam Tegen, to approve the August 24, 2020 meeting minutes. Motion carried (6-0). Discussion and Action Items 20-1110 Discussion and action on the 2021 Room Tax Budget Attachments: Proposed 2021 Room Tax Budget (003).xlsx City of Manitowoc Page 1 Room Tax Commission Meeting Minutes - Final November 16, 2020 Mayor Nickels provided an overview of the recommended budget. At this time only required expenditures and previously committed items are being included. An overview of the expected revenues for 2020 was also provided. A discussion surrounding the inclusion of funding specific to public art occurred. The consensus of the Commission was to support funding for public art, but there is the desire to see how revenues develop in 2021 before committing to an amount. A motion was made by Alderman Sitkiewitz, seconded by Alderman McMeans, to approve the 2021 Room Tax Budget as presented. Motion carred (6-0). Ajournment A motion was made at 6:15 p.m. by Alderman Sitkiewitz, seconded by Alderman Brey to adjourn. In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the City of Manitowoc will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs, or activities.
