CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Marty Thomas at 5:59 p.m. Board Members present: Cindy Gardner, Tom Leach, James Leggs, Connie McGough, Chris Ohan, and Marty Thomas. Board Members absent: Johnny Bratton City Staff present: Museum Manager Jessica Baber Citizens Present: Annette Hamill 2. APPROVE MINUTES FROM SEPTEMBER MEETING Chris made a motion to approve the minutes. Marty seconded the motion. All voted in favor to approve the minutes as written. 3. CITIZENS COMMENTS None 4. MAN HOUSE MUSEUM UPDATE The Ribbon Cutting event is scheduled for October 30 at 10. Jessica asked for volunteers to work the rooms of the house and barn to talk to visitors and answer questions. Chris, Annette, Connie, Cindy and Tom volunteered. Tom and his wife, Karen, will be in period costumes. The Grand Opening of the Museum will take place on Saturday, December 12. After the event on the 30, the move-in will begin. Jessica will email everyone with volunteer needs for the next month while the museum is setup. A new part-time employee has been hired. Kelli Merk started yesterday. She will be working at the Man House once it opens. 5. WINDMILL UPDATE Chris spoke to some Council members about needing funds to move and restore the windmill on Debbie Ln. and move it to the Man House. Terry Moore and David Cook offered to pay $300 each toward moving the windmill from its current location. The money will be given to the Mansfield Heritage Foundation to hold and spend on the project. Neither of them had paid so far. James offered to remind them about it when he sees them tomorrow. Jessica will contact the windmill moving company to get it on their schedule. She will also contact the landowner to update her and the city parks department to schedule a cleanup of the site. 6. GHOST TOURS UPDATE The virtual ghost tours have begun and will run until October 31. CITY OF MANSFIELD Page 1 Historic Preservation Advisory Meeting Minutes October 22, 2020 Board 7. BLACK STUDENTS ASSOCIATION PROJECT UPDATE Jessica has reached out to the association advisor, but has not received a response. Once the Man House is open, Jessica will reach out again to make sure that the project is still happening. 8. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Mike Leasor has resigned from the board. City Council is considering replacing him at next week’s Council meeting. Jessica will contact Mike about his contact at Mellow Mushroom so we can follow-up about the millstone. Next month will be officer elections. 9.
