CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Marty Thomas at 6:04 p.m. Board Members present: Annette Hamill, Tom Leach, James Leggs, Connie McGough, Chris Ohan, and Marty Thomas. Board Members Absent: Cindy Gardner and Johnny Bratton City Staff present: Director of Community Services Matt Young, Director of Library Services Yolanda Botello, and Museum Manager Jessica Baber 2. APPROVE MINUTES FROM NOVEMBER MEETING Chris made a motion to approve the minutes as written, Connie seconded and all voted in favor. 3. CITIZENS COMMENTS None 4. INTRODUCE MATT YOUNG Yolie introduced Matt Young, the director of Community Services who is now over the library and museum. Matt told the Board that he has been the Director of Parks and Recreation for the city for a few years, working in Arlington and Desoto before coming to Mansfield. He was also on the team that oversaw the Man House restoration project. 5. MAN HOUSE MUSEUM UPDATE The museum opened on December 12 and had a steady stream of people all day. Now, it is open Friday and Saturday 10-4. Our part-time employee Kelli left for a full-time job at the end of December, but someone has already been hired and will start next week. Her name is Savannah Reha. Docent training is underway. We had 12 people respond to the initial email about wanting to become docents and nine have signed up for times. The first training was today and the next is scheduled for two weeks from now. We are still waiting to hear from Second Chance Windmills about their availability to move the windmill on Debbie Lane. Jessica has been in touch with the owner, so the project is still on their radar. Construction on the information center is underway. It is expected to be completed in May. 6. PRESERVATION MONTH UPDATE May is Historic Preservation Month. Events planned this May are: a bike race, a special exhibit at the museum, a shopping weekend downtown, guided tours of downtown, an information table at the library, a recognitions ceremony for new historic landmarks, and an MISD poster contest. BLACK STUDENTS ASSOCIATION PROJECT UPDATE Jessica met with the students, their advisor, Brenda Norwood and Mayor Evans. The next step is for the students and I to go look through some of the pieces Mrs. Norwood has collected over the years and see what could be used in the exhibit. 8. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Annette, who joined the meeting late, mentioned that Ediger is misspelled in last month’s minutes. They will be amended. 9.
