CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Cindy Gardner at 6:02 p.m. Board Members present: Cindy Gardner, Annette Hamill, Tom Leach, Connie McGough, Chris Ohan, and Marty Thomas. Board Members Absent: Johnny Bratton and James Leggs City Staff present: Museum Manager Jessica Baber 2. APPROVE MINUTES FROM JANUARY MEETING Tom made a motion to approve the minutes as written, Chris seconded and all voted in favor. 3. CITIZENS COMMENTS None 4. MAN HOUSE MUSEUM UPDATE The second docent training was held on February 12. We still have a few people who were interested in volunteering who have not signed up for training. Jessica will reach out to them to see if they are still interested and when they are available. Those that have gone through the training should let Jessica know when they would like to work. A representative from Second Wind Windmill came to see the windmill tower on Matlock that is owned by Moretta Weatherford. Then, went to the site at the Man House to make a plan about moving the tower. He asked that we remove the trees currently around the tower. Jessica will talk to the Parks Department about doing this. He also made some suggestions about where to store the tower at the House before it is ready to be put up. He was also able to locate the original site of the windmill at the Man House. 5. PRESERVATION MONTH UPDATE May is Historic Preservation Month. Jessica is working on creating brochures and a video to use at a table to promote the month at the library. Also, the museum needs to have special social media content during the month. 6. "MANSFIELD LEGACY" MURAL PROJECT Methodist Mansfield reached out to the city about sponsoring a mural in downtown. Council approved the project and they hired an artist to work on a design called Mansfield Legacy. Someone in the city decided that the mural would be placed on the McKnight building, but no one in the historical services division of the city was consulted about the project. The Historic Landmark Commission was approached because of the historical nature of the building and had them make some changes to the original plans. The design is a woman walking from the modern world across the street into historic Mansfield. Painting will begin on March 2. CITY OF MANSFIELD Page 1 Historic Preservation Advisory Meeting Minutes February 25, 2021 Board 7. BLACK STUDENTS ASSOCIATION PROJECT UPDATE There has been no update since the last meeting. Jessica is still waiting to hear about when a visit is planned to Brenda Norwood’s home to view the items she has for potential exhibit. She will follow up with the group soon. 8. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Tom mentioned a few other projects at the Man House that had been making progress, the floor cloth and barn door. 9.
