CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Cindy Gardner at 6:02 p.m. Board Members present: Johnny Bratton, Cindy Gardner, Annette Hamill, Tom Leach, Connie McGough, Chris Ohan and Marty Thomas City Staff present: Historic Preservation Officer Art Wright and Museum Manager Jessica Baber Citizens present: Linda Leddy 2. APPROVE MINUTES FROM MARCH MEETING Chris made a motion to approve the minutes as written, Connie seconded and all voted in favor. 3. CITIZENS COMMENTS None 4. MAN HOUSE MUSEUM UPDATE Progress has been made on the windmill move. The Parks department is going to clear the brush around the windmill tower and dig the holes where it will be planted at the current site. Once that is completed, the windmill will be ready to move. The information center will be completed in May. Once construction is completed, the furniture and displays will need to be moved in and arranged. The Programs Committee met on the 21 to start planning the Founder’s Day Event which will be held on August 28. It is going to be a fun event, but there is a lot of work to be done. We will let the rest of the board know when we need their assistance preparing for the event. 5. PRESERVATION MONTH UPDATE The Bike race had to be postponed due to construction on the route. So instead, Art has planned a new program called History on the Run. We will issue a new challenge for people to run, walk or cycle through a different part of historic Mansfield each week and find a different type of historic architecture or building. We’re encouraging people to take pictures of these things and tag them online. The demonstrations at the Man House will take place on May 8, 15 and 22. There will be quilting, sewing, seat weaving, dip pen writing, and cooking going on, though not all activities will take place each week. 6. DISCUSSION OF POTENTIAL PRESERVATION PROJECTS Art discussed two projects that he and the Historic Landmark Commission need assistance with. The first is a Windshield Study of part of the historic area of town that would require volunteers to go by historic structures in the area and fill out a form CITY OF MANSFIELD Page 1 Historic Preservation Advisory Meeting Minutes April 22, 2021 Board describing the building. The second is to identify and recommend houses that are of historic significance to Historical Commission as part of their plan to create a historic village. Cindy made a motion that the Board take on both projects, Annette seconded the motion. All voted in favor. A committee was formed to oversee the project. Members are Cindy, Annette and Marty. Other Board members and volunteers from the community can also participate. 7. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS The city’s volunteer awards dinner is on May 13. Jessica needs RSVPs as soon as possible. Connie has been reaching out to the high schools about a potential Black History exhibit in 2022. 8.
