CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Marty at 6:03 p.m. Board Members present: Johnny Bratton, Annette Hamill, Tom Leach, Connie McGough, Chris Ohan (via Zoom) and Marty Thomas Board Members missing: Cindy Gardner City Staff present: Museum Manager Jessica Baber 2. APPROVE MINUTES FROM MAY MEETING Chris made a motion to approve the minutes as written, Connie seconded and all voted in favor. 3. CITIZENS' COMMENTS None 4. MAN HOUSE MUSEUM UPDATE The windmill finally moved to the Man House on Monday, June 21. The project was completed in one day. Tim from the Mansfield Convention and Visitors Bureau is making a video about the move that will be available on our website. The first round of interviews for the museum’s new full-time Education and Engagement Specialist position have been completed. Two finalists are coming to town for final interviews, one from Lubbock, the other South Dakota. A selection should be made by the beginning of July. This position will office out of the Man House information center, but will be responsible for planning education programs and special events for both museums. The museum clerk position is still vacant. Interviews will begin after the Educator is hired. The information center is still under construction. Jessica has been told that the interior will be finished soon. The Project Manager for the city also guaranteed that the work would be completed before the Founder’s Day event. The Programs Committee has had another meeting about the Founder’s Day event. The idea of postponing the event a few weeks was discussed, due to the fact that the information center project still isn’t completed. As of now, the plan for an August 28th event is still in place. 5. PRESERVATION PROJECTS UPDATE The windshield survey of the historic district is well underway. Connie drove around her area and did the surveys from the car. Cindy, Annette and Marty walked their neighborhoods and did not have any negative interactions with people living in the homes they were surveying. Art Wright did not give the Board a deadline to get the project completed, but the committee is hopeful that it will be completed soon. 6. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS The Mansfield Garden Club is interested in helping us before Founder’s Day. The President emailed Jessica to follow-up and she will forward the email to Connie. However, the Parks Department cut down a lot of the plants that they were going to help work on, so we will ask them to focus their attention on other projects, like developing a plan for a historical garden or relocating the remaining plants. Last month, Jessica was asked by the city Special Events Coordinator to remake the exhibit panels that had been used during previous Juneteenth events. She and several board members worked on the panels that were displayed at this year’s event. Chris mentioned how much everyone at the event seemed to enjoy the exhibit. The Special Events Coordinator also mentioned that it was one of the most popular things at the Juneteenth celebration. 7.
