CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Cindy Gardner at 6:00 Board Members present: Cindy Gardner, Annette Hamill, Tom Leach, and Chris Ohan Board Members absent: Marty Thomas City Staff present: Museum Manager Jessica Baber and Museum Education and Engagement Specialist Amanda Brown 2. APPROVE MINUTES FROM MARCH 31ST MEETING Chris made a motion to approve the minutes as written, Cindy, seconded and all voted in favor. 3. CITIZEN COMMENTS None 4. PROJECT UPDATES a. May is Historic Preservation Month. In recognition, there will be a special display “From the Vault” at the Historical Museum. Art will have guided tours of downtown each Saturday. At the Man House, there will be free hands-on activities each Saturday - May 7th- sewing. May 14th- quill pen writing, May 21st- quilting, May 28th- tin punching. There will be period music on and off during those days. Chris will present the oral history workshop May 14th at 1:30. Tom will invite the Women’s Club and Historical Society to the oral history workshop. b. The reception for the 20th anniversary of the museum is on May 26th from 6:00-8:00 pm. Our preservation board meeting will be at 4:00 pm on May 26th, before the event. We discussed ordering food, sending out invitations and evites for some people. Jessica has found pictures to blow up and display. Chris will bring a recorder so we can encourage people to give short oral histories about their experiences at the museum. Chris will make a sign explaining what to do. Amanda will take pictures of people at the event c. The Wedding Exhibit starts in June and will run through the summer months. We are still finding dresses to use for display. Cindy is working on writing the history of wedding dresses per decade. d. The “Women in Aviation” traveling exhibit will be coming to the museum October 10th through December 7th. It’s being paid for by the Convention and Visitors Bureau and has been booked. 5. STEPS PROGRAM The board reviewed, discussed and completed standards 6 through 9 and part of 10. In the Mission, Vision and Governance section. Next month, we will complete section 10 and look back through the whole section and make work plans for the areas where we need improvement. She started April 27. 7. ADJOURN The meeting was adjourned at 7:42.
