CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Marty at 6:11 PM. Board Members present: Marty Thomas, Tom Leach, Chris Ohan, and Annette Hamill City Staff present: Museum Manager, Jessica Baber and Museum Education and Engagement Specialist, Amanda Brown. 2. APPROVE MINUTES FROM AUGUST 24 MEETING Chris made a motion to approve the minutes as written and Tom seconded the motion. All voted in favor to approve the minutes. 3. CITIZEN COMMENTS None 4. PROJECT UPDATES a. Upcoming Programs – The Garden Club bench dedication will be at the Man House at 10 AM on September 30. Michael Evans, Mansfield’s Mayor will be at the ceremony. There will be a Teacher Appreciation event held at the Man House on September 30 from 5 -7 PM. The Library Story Time will be at the Man House on October 14th from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM. The group will also watch the eclipse. The Mansfield Historical Society will have their annual meeting on Thursday October 19th, at the Rock gym, starting at 6:30 PM. The Mansfield Garden Club will be the guest speaker. Haunt the Block will be on October 19th in downtown Mansfield. The event will include trick-or-treating downtown. The museum will also have a craft activity for kids The Mansfield tourism department is holding their annual Paranormal Investigation event at the Man House. The event will be October 20 and 21 from 9 PM – Midnight. The event is sold out. Halloween at the House will be held at the Man House on October 27th from 6:30 - 9:30 PM. b. Founders Day – Founders Day is just 9 days away and the museum is good to go. Amanda asked that board members share this event on Face book. c. The Quanah Parker exhibit will arrive in November and be on display in December and January. Jessica met with Raymond Meeks and the MISD Athletic Director about CITY OF MANSFIELD Page 1 Historic Preservation Advisory Meeting Minutes September 28, 2023 Board creating an exhibit about the MISD Wall of Honor which is a hall of fame for MISD athletes. The exhibit is planned for next fall. 5. STEPS PROGRAM MGT – Sec 6 , 1-5 Pages 216-234 6. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS Tom talked about the progress on the Cook Cabin. The funding to complete the study of the cabin and have plans drawn should be presented to the city council by the end of October and will go out for a bid by February or March. 7. ADJOURN The meeting was adjourned at 7:35.
