CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order via Zoom by President Bobby Quinten at 6:01 p.m. Board Members Present: Bobby Quinten, Cindy Kuster, Debra Collins, Emily Bauer, Althea Chaderton, Maggie Martin, Cindy Gray, and ex officio Friends President Kathy Allen. Library Staff Present: Director of Library Services Yolanda Botello, Director of Parks and Recreation Matt Young, Assistant Director of Library Services Faria Matin, Youth Services Librarian Julie Crisafulli, and Library Administrative Assistant II Blacey Bailey. Citizen Present: None Board Members Absent: Suzonne Evans and Richard Ajenikoko 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF NOVEMBER MEETING A motion to approve the November 11, 2020 minutes, as written, was made by Debra Collins and was seconded by Cindy Kuster. The minutes were unanimously approved. A motion to approve the special meeting on November 18, 2020 minutes, as written, was made by Debra Collins and was seconded by Cindy Kuster. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY UPDATE Friends President Kathy Allen shared the following update: The Friends are currently running the 2021 membership drive. The cost is $10 to join as an individual for the whole year. Go to the Friends website to join online. The Friends are also setting a deadline of March 1, 2021 to choose a book for READS 2021. The Friends are in need of readers to provide feedback on the books under consideration. Bobby will send out information on those books being considered. 5. DIRECTOR OF LIBRARY SERVICES REPORT Director of Library Services Yolanda Botello provided the following update: Organizational Changes: City organizational changes include the naming of Joe Smolinski as the new City Manager and the retirement of a deputy city manager. Due to this, the library will now be under the community services division with Parks and Recreation and under the direction of Matt Young. The City has also sworn in Pastor Michael Evans as Mayor and two new council members. Tech Van: Due to Covid-19, the customization of the library tech van has been delayed. The customization team was impacted so completion has been pushed back to mid-February. After it returns from the customization team, it will be sent to the vinyl wrapping company to have the exterior wrapped. Community Engagement Librarian: The new full-time employee will join the library staff on February 1st, 2021. Summer Programming: In person programs are still planned for the summer months. However, all these programs can be changed to virtual programs based on the health and safety protocols that are in place due to Covid. Julie shared that a “story walk” project is being explored. Holds Locker: The library is acquiring a holds locker to replace the current curbside pickup option. The locker works with our ILS system and will be available to patrons 24/7. The library is currently waiting on the company to deliver and install the locker. It will be located in the front porch area of the library. 6. OLD BUSINESS Strategic Plan Draft: The strategic plan has undergone extensive edits. It will be presented to council at their Feb. 22nd meeting which is right before a scheduled council retreat. Final adoption of the strategic plan will be placed on the council meeting agenda in March. The library board reviewed the newly edited strategic plan page by page with a few minor changes made. The board will vote to approve the final draft at the February 10, 2021 board meeting. 7. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS The next board meeting is February 10, 2021 at 6:00 PM. The board will vote to approve the Strategic Plan. 9.
