Board
1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by President Bobby Quinten at 6:02 PM.
Board Members Present:
Bobby Quinten, Cindy Kuster, Suzonne Evans, Althea Chaderton, Debra Collins, Emily
Duran, Cindy Gray, Richard Ajenikoko and ex officio Friends Vice-President Carol Ann
Grantham.
City and Library Staff Present:
Director of Library and Historical Services Yolanda Botello, Assistant Director of
Library Services Faria Matin, Youth Services Librarian Julie Crisafulli, Community
Engagement Librarian Lori Eddy and Administrative Assistant Blacey Bailey.
Absent:
Maggie Martin
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JANUARY MEETING
A motion to approve the January minutes, as written, was made by Debra Collins,
seconded by Cindy Kuster and unanimously approved.
3. CITIZEN COMMENTS
None
4. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY UPDATE
Friends Vice-President Carol Ann Grantham shared the following update:
Emily Duran has agreed to take on the role of second vice president and Reads
chairperson. Debra Collins is currently working on improving the contacts for the Gmail
and the Mailchimp accounts. Althea Chaderton is working on updating Facebook and
the website. The next Friends meeting, March 8, will be held at TapHouse 16 at Market
Street for a social meeting, “March Membership Madness”.
Hornburg Real Estate in Mansfield will be donating a percentage of the February
closing costs to the Friends of the Library. Bloomfield Homes gave the Friends grants
to sponsor summer reading. The Friends are getting new shelving to align with the new
renovation. A new Friends T-shirt is also planned.
5. DIRECTOR OF LIBRARY SERVICES REPORT
General Update:
The library’s system upgrade with the consortium will be taking place on Thursday,
February 10. Arlington Public Library will be upgrading servers at the same time.
Therefore, the automation system will be completely down at that time.
The library is starting the RFID project. IT installed the encoding software on staff
computers and staff training is on February 16.
The library has two interns, one from MISD and one from UNT. A third intern will be
joining the library in late February.
The Pickle Parade is on March 19 and Friends are searching for volunteers.

6. OLD BUSINESS
Library Expansion:
The library still doesn’t have its temporary wall. The construction crew poured concrete
to cover the trench by the staff entrance. Furniture choices are being finalized. The
library is getting the go ahead to purchase most items via “Buy Board” and not have to
go to bid. If anything needs council approval it will be in March.
Bond Election:
City council will officially call for the bond election next Monday, February 14. There are
five propositions: Proposition A the Veteran’s Memorial, Proposition B the Library/Rec
multi-center, Proposition C the Southwest community park, Proposition D the Linear
Park trail and Proposition E the Miracle Field. The Bond election will be held on May
7.The Library Friends and the Library Board are encouraged to help support the
Library/Rec multi-center project and advocate for the library.
7. NEW BUSINESS
None
8. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Board members asked about the status of the Library DREAM service and were
updated that there are no homebound clients at this time, but the service is still being
advertised.
Friends are having a membership drive and searching for new members.
The next board meeting is March 9 at 6:00 PM.
