CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by President Bobby Quinten at 6:01 PM. Board Members Present: Bobby Quinten, Debra Collins, Cindy Gray, Maggie Martin, Richard Ajenikoko, Emily Duran, Cindy Kuster, and Friends Vice-President Carol Ann Grantham. Board Members Absent: Suzonne Evans, Althea Chaderton Library Staff Present: Director of Library Services Yolanda Botello, Assistant Director Faria Matin, Youth Services Librarian Julie Crisafulli, Community Engagement Librarian Lori Eddy and Administrative Assistant Blacey Bailey. Citizen Present: None 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF FEBRUARY MEETING A motion to approve the February minutes, as written was made by Debra Collins and was seconded by Cindy Kuster. The minutes were unanimously approved. 3. CITIZEN COMMENTS None 4. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY UPDATE Friends Vice-President Carol Ann Grantham shared the following update: Friends members worked at the Pickle Parade event selling new merchandise: New mugs for $10, new t-shirts with the logo “When in doubt go to the library” for $15. Membership renewals will go out in the coming weeks, $10. The Mansfield Early Childhood PTA made a donation of $220.00. The sponsor letter for Reads is ready and will be sent out soon. Althea put a banner on the Friends website regarding the upcoming bond proposal election. Matt Young presented bond information after the April Friends meeting. 5. DIRECTOR OF LIBRARY SERVICES REPORT It is budget planning time. The first round of drafts are being submitted. There will be meetings in May to discuss more about the budget. The library has requested three new positions: An Adult Services Librarian and two part-time 20-hour clerks. The TLA conference is April 25-28. Faria is on the programming committee for TLA this year. Yolie is presenting three times and Lori is also presenting. The RFID project is moving forward with about 25,000 items tagged. The city Volunteer appreciation event is April 21, from 5:30-8:00 PM at the MISD Performing Arts Center. Board Members were reminded to RSVP. The Library Board is being recognized at the event. OLD BUSINESS Library Expansion Update: The Council approved the furniture contract so the library can move forward with purchasing. The furniture colors are neutral so that they can be used in other facilities. Weekly meetings with the contractor, the architect, and Wade are being held. The last timeline update indicated that construction is ahead of schedule. Phase 2 will start possibly at the end of July. There were some issues with wet carpet after heavy rain due to minimal roofing, but it has been fixed. A handicap ramp has now been installed on the staff side. Bond Election Update: The bond election is May 7th, 2022. Public forums are scheduled for Thursday, April 14 at 9:00 AM and Monday, April 18 at 6:00 PM at City Hall. Library staff will be present at the following events: Music Alley, City Volunteer event, Picnic Day at Rose Park, Earth Day, and several other events. 7. NEW BUSINESS No new business 8. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS No board member comments. The next board meeting is Wednesday May 11 at 6:00 PM with food. 9.
