CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by President Bobby Quinten at 6:12pm. Board Members Present: Bobby Quinten, Debra Collins, Cindy Gray, Maggie Martin, Emily Duran, Richard Ajenikoko Board Member Absent: Suzonne Evans Library Staff Present: Director of Library Services Yolanda Botello, Assistant Director of Library Services Faria Matin, Youth Services Librarian Julie Crisafulli, Community Engagement Librarian Lori Eddy and Administrative Assistant Blacey Bailey. Citizen Present: None 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JULY MEETING A motion to approve the July minutes, as written was made by Debra Collins and was seconded by Maggie Martin. The minutes were unanimously approved. 3. CITIZEN COMMENTS None 4. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY UPDATE Emily Duran shared the following update: The Reads Kick-off event was held at Market Street on September 9, 2022. It was well received. The Friends raised $1,188 with book purchases, raffle tickets, and merchandise sales. Mansfield Reads 2022 is scheduled for October 20, 2022 at Legacy High School Performing Arts Center. The Friends are looking for volunteers for Mansfield Reads. North Texas Giving Day is September 22; the Friends are hoping to raise $3,000. 5. DIRECTOR OF LIBRARY SERVICES REPORT Library General Update Board appointments will be made at the next city council meeting. A new member will be joining the library board after appointment in October. Yolie requested that the nine-person Library Advisory Board be returned to a seven-person Library Advisory Board. MPL received a grant from TSLAC for $23,500. The library will create a mobile makerspace focusing on three different components: nutrition, STEM, and creation. The library is currently working on planning the Turkey Palooza event with other City departments on Saturday, November 5. More information about volunteering will come in the next few months. A few items are still delayed including some of the new library shelving. Shelving should be installed in the next few days. The library is still waiting on the completion of the new wiring for network cables. Staff has moved out of the community room and is working in the regular workroom. RFID gates have been installed in the last few days. 7. NEW BUSINESS No new business 8. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS The next board meeting is October 12, 2022. 9.
