Maple Grove Closed City Council special meeting meeting minutes September 6, 2022 Call to order Pursuant to call and notice thereof, a closed special meeting of the Maple Grove City Council was held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at the Maple Grove Government Center/Public Safety Facility, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Present were Mayor Steffenson and Councilmembers Jaeger, Leith, Hanson and Barnett (attending remotely via FaceTime). Also attending was City Administrator Heidi Nelson, Human Resources Director Krista Guzman, employment law attorneys Dyan Ebert and Scott Lepak, and League of MN Cities Insurance Trust Claims Adjuster Derrick Schluck. Mayor Steffenson called the meeting to order at 6:41 p.m. Mayor opened the meeting and asked Mr. Lepak to address the Council. Closed session Mr. Lepak stated the City Council has the ability to go into closed session pursuant pursuant to the to Minn. Statute § 13D.05, subd. 3(b) when closure is permitted by the attorney-client attorney/client privilege. He recommended and requested that the city make a privilege to motion to close the meeting pursuant to Minn. Statute § 13D.05, subd. 3(b) to engage in engage in confidential attorney-client communications and litigation strategy confidential related to a current litigation and potential settlement offer involving a charge attorney-client made by the EEOC. Mr. Lepak advised that the discussion be strictly limited to communications said subject. Those present are listed above. and litigation strategy related Mr. Lepak requested that the Council meet in closed session and that a motion be to a current made to go into closed session pursuant to Minn. Upon call of the motion by Mayor Steffenson, there were five ayes and no nays. Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m. by Mayor Steffenson.
