Maple Grove joint City Council / Park Board work session meeting meeting minutes February 16, 2023 Call to order Pursuant to call and notice thereof, a joint work session meeting of the Maple Grove City Council and Park Board was held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at the Maple Grove Government Center/Public Safety Facility, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Present were Mayor Mark Steffenson, Councilmembers Judy Hanson, Kristy Barnett, Kristy Janigo, and Rachelle Johnson and Park Board members Bill Lewis (chair), John Ferm (vice chair), Kelly Cunningham, Ken Helvey, and Andy Mielke. Present also was City Administrator Heidi Nelson, Parks and Recreation Director Chuck Stifter, and Community Center Manager Angie Dehn. Mayor Steffenson called the meeting to order at 5:03 p.m. Community Center Parks and Recreation Director Stifter noted that the city issued a request for architecture proposals (RFP) for architectural services for the Maple Grove Community Center presentations Renovation and Expansion project on January 25, 2023. He explained that the RFP submittal due date was February 13, 2023 and two architectural firms submitted proposals for architecture and engineering services. Representatives from JLG Architects provided an overview of their design team and firm experience. They then shared their design approach specific to the Community Center project. The City Council and Park Board then followed up with a series of questions. Next, representatives from HGA Architects and Engineers spoke about their response to the RFP. They introduced their design team and shared their firm experience. HGA presented their design approach for the city’s Community Center project. The City Council and Park Board then followed up with a number of questions. After both architectural firms presented their proposals, the City Council and Park Board discussed the candidates and their credentials. City Council and Park Board consensus was to proceed with developing a contract with JLG Architects to complete the project design for the Community Center Expansion and Renovation project.
