Maple Grove City Council closed work session meeting minutes March 6, 2023 Call to order Pursuant to call and notice thereof, a closed meeting of the Maple Grove City Council was held at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023, at the Maple Grove Government Center/Public Safety Facility, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Present were Mayor Steffenson and Councilmembers Judy Hanson, Kristy Barnett, Kristy Janigo, and Rachelle Johnson. Also attending was City Administrator Heidi Nelson, Finance Director Greg Sticha, Parks and Recreation Director Chuck Stifter, Director of Public Works/City Engineer Ken Ashfeld, Park Board Chair Bill Lewis, Stacie Kvilvang, Senior Municipal Advisor with Ehlers, Inc., and City Attorney Justin Templin. Mayor Steffenson called the meeting to order at 5:01 p.m. Mayor opened the meeting and asked Mr. Templin to address the council. Closed session to City Attorney Justin Templin stated the City Council has the ability to go into consider terms of closed session pursuant to Minn. Statute § 13D.05, subd. 3(c) (3) when closure is a counteroffer for permitted to consider terms of a purchase of real property. He recommended and the purchase of requested that the city make a motion to close the meeting pursuant to Minn. the Life Time Statute § 13D.05, subd. 3(c) (3) to develop and consider terms of a counteroffer Fitness building for the purchase of the Life Time Fitness building. Mr. Templin advised that the discussion be strictly limited to said subject, that the meeting is being recorded, and the recording will be retained for eight (8) years per state statute and will become public data after the transaction under consideration is completed or abandoned. He then requested everyone present state their name for the purpose of making their voices more identifiable to anyone listening to the recording at a later date. Those present are listed above. Mr. Templin requested that the council meet in closed session and that a motion be made to go into closed session pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 13D.05, subd. 3(c) (3). Motion by Mayor Steffenson to go into closed session, seconded by Councilmember Hanson. Council adjourned to closed session pursuant to Minn. Stat. 13D.05, subd. 3(c) (3). Adjournment Motion by Councilmember Barnett, seconded by Councilmember Hanson, to adjourn to the City Council work session meeting of March 6, 2023. Upon call of the motion by Mayor Steffenson, there were five ayes and no nays. Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 6:05 p.m. by Mayor Steffenson.
