Updates INFORMATIONAL ITEMS FUTURE MEETINGS: June 15, 2022 ADJOURNMENT  MAPLE GROVE LAKE QUALITY COMMISSION DRAFT MINUTES April 20, 2022 CALL TO ORDER A meeting of the Lake Quality Commission (LQC) was held on April 20, 2022 in the Engineering Conference at the Maple Grove Government Center, 12800 Arbor Lakes Parkway, Maple Grove Joe Ruegsegger called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Commissioners Present: George Schneider – Rice Lake Brennon O’Callaghan – Fish Lake Nancy Bergstrand – Weaver Lake Steve Lane – Cedar Island Sharon Martin-Kotula – Edward Lake Joe Ruegsegger – At Large Commissioners Absent: Ben Zaker – At Large Becky Fahrenbruch – Chair - Eagle Lake Others Present: Derek Asche, City of Maple Grove Martha West – Eagle Lake Connor McComas – Blue Water Science AREA REPORTS Rice Lake, George Schneider – Ice went out on April 10th. Some docks were damaged and there has been a fish kill. Eagle Lake, Martha West – Docks and lifts are going in and there has not been a fish kill on Eagle this year. Fish Lake, Brennon O’Callaghan – Golden Pond west of Fish Lake had ice out but re- froze. Ice went out on April 13th and some lifts are going in. Cedar Island, Steve Lane – Ice went out on April 8th. Water is low but no fish kill. Edward Lake, Sharon Martin-Kotula – Ice went out ~April 8th. There are lots of swans, geese, and ducks. The water is low but no fish kill. Weaver Lake, Nancy Bergstrand – Ice went out on April 10th and there is already lots of wildlife present.  At Large, Joe Ruegsegger – Fish Lake temp is 42 degrees and Joe has already been in the water. APPROVAL OF Minutes of the March 16, 2022 LQC meeting were presented. MINUTES MOTION TO APPROVE made by Lane, second by Schneider. With all in favor the motion was APPROVED. LAKE Connor McComas was present to discuss the 2021 lake monitoring program. In MONITORING 2021, seven lakes were monitored in Maple Grove by Blue Water Science. Several PROGRAM parameters are included in the monitoring including total phosphorus, chlorophyll A, water clarity, and chloride. McComas noted that the general trends were positive toward water quality improvements although salt may be an issue in the Arbor Lakes area. WATER OBSTICLE Asche presented water obstacle permit applications for slalom courses on Fish, SLALOM COURSE Rice, and Cedar Lakes. APPLICATIONS MOTION TO APPROVE made by Martin-Kotula, second by Bergstrand. With all in favor the motion was APPROVED. INFORMATIONAL A reminder that the Maple Grove Days LQC booth will need to be staffed by LQC. ITEMS It was strongly recommended each member take one shift. A sign up sheet will be provided soon. FUTURE May 18, 2022 MEETING: ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned at 7:44 pm.  LAKE QUALITY COMMISSION STAFF REPORT TO: Lake Quality Commission (LQC) FROM: Derek Asche, Water Resources Engineer DATE: May 9, 2022 SUBJECT: Shingle Creek/West Mississippi 4th Generation Plan Update #2 The Shingle Creek and West Mississippi Watersheds are beginning the process of updating their watershed plans. These plans are updated every 10 years and as a part of the public engagement process, representative(s) from the watershed will be in attendance to explain the process and take feed back from the LQC. This will be the second of two meetings with representatives from the watersheds. RECOMMENDATION: None.
