Community Center Update Update from City Administrator Heidi Nelson on the Maple Grove Community Center renovation and expansion INFORMATIONAL ITEMS FUTURE MEETINGS: August 17, 2022 ADJOURNMENT  MAPLE GROVE LAKE QUALITY COMMISSION DRAFT MINUTES May 18, 2022 CALL TO ORDER A meeting of the Lake Quality Commission (LQC) was held on May 18, 2022 in the Mayor’s Conference at the Maple Grove Government Center, 12800 Arbor Lakes Parkway, Maple Grove Chair Fahrenbruch called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m. Commissioners Present: Becky Fahrenbruch – Chair - Eagle Lake George Schneider – Rice Lake Brennon O’Callaghan – Fish Lake Nancy Bergstrand – Weaver Lake Steve Lane – Cedar Island Sharon Martin-Kotula – Edward Lake Joe Ruegsegger – At Large Commissioners Absent: Ben Zaker – At Large Others Present: Derek Asche, City of Maple Grove Diane Spector & Katie Kemmitt - Stantec AREA REPORTS Becky Fahrenbruch, Eagle Lake – Docks continue to be installed and waterfowl are back. Rice Lake, George Schneider – Rice Lake Area Association held their annual meeting. Water is about 12” higher than normal and there is no visible curlyleaf pondweed. Fish Lake, Brennon O’Callaghan – Dock and lifts are being installed. The lake temperature is approximately 68 degrees. The Fish Lake Area Residents Association held their annual meeting. Cedar Island, Steve Lane – The lake level is continuing to bounce back to normal levels. Curlyleaf pondweed was treated on May 17, 2022. Edward Lake, Sharon Martin-Kotula – Lake clean-up event was completed. Weaver Lake, Nancy Bergstrand – Weaver Lake held their annual association meeting. Concerns were raised over whitestem pondweed excessive growth.  At Large, Joe Ruegsegger – Joe’s daughter continues her success on the water and her picture was featured in Maple Grove Magazine. APPROVAL OF Minutes of the April 20, 2022 LQC meeting were presented. MINUTES MOTION TO APPROVE made by Lane, second by Schneider. With all in favor the motion was APPROVED. SHINGLE CREEK Diane Spector and Katie Kemmitt of Stantec were in attendance to present to the 4TH GENERATION commission and update on the progress of the Shingle Creek Watershed 4th PLAN AND TMDL Generation Plan and Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) updates. The presentation UPDATES included priority concerns for Cedar Island, Pike, and Eagle lakes including elevated internal nutrient loading, invasive plant communities, and the presence of rough fish. The presentation also included possible 10-year plan activities including subwatershed assessments and invasive species management. In addition, a review of approved TMDL’s and the sources pollution including the watershed (MS4), atmospheric, internal, and residual was provided. INFORMATIONAL A reminder that the Maple Grove Days LQC booth will need to be staffed by LQC. ITEMS It was strongly recommended each member take one shift. A sign up sheet will be provided soon. Steve Lane is able to transport supplies to the Maple Grove Days booth. Asche is working on supplies for the booth including signage, prizes and water. O’Callaghan will provide a tent canopy.
