Roll Call Present: 7- Councilor Reed, Councilor Honig, Chair Brechnitz, Councilor Young, Councilor Roman, Councilor Grifoni and Vice-Chair Rios 3. Business ID 19-253 City Manager Candidate Interviews Florida City and County Management Association (FCCMA) Senior Advisor Ken Parker explained the process going forward. He stated each candidate will provide a brief opening statement, followed by a question and answer session from Council and will wrap up with a summary of why they should be the next City Manager for Marco Island. The City Manager Candidates were escorted in one at at time by FCCMA Senior Advisor Ken Parker in the following alphabetical order: Mr. Steve Barwick Mr. Michael Bonfield Mr. Craig Coffey Mr. Michael McNees Ms. Catherine Swanson (THE MEETING WENT INTO RECESS AT 6:50 P.M. IT IS NOTED FOR THE RECORD THE SAME COUNCILORS WERE PRESENT WHEN THE MEETING RECONVENED AT 7:05 P.M.) Public Comment: None FCCMA Senior Advisor Ken Parker advised Council to now rank the candidates in their preference one (1) through five (5) with one (1) being their favorite and to sign the tally sheet, keeping in mind the lower score advances. Mr. Barwick Interim City Manager David Harden announced the total tally amounts: Mr. Steve Barwick - 19 Mr. Michael Bonfield - 25 Mr. Craig Coffey - 22 Mr. Michael McNees - 13 Ms. Katherine Swanson - 26 City of Marco Island Florida Page 1 City Council Meeting Minutes - Final May 7, 2019 Following the announcement of the total tally amounts, Council concurred by unanimous consensus to eliminate Ms. Swanson and Mr. Bonfield from the process and discussion ensued on whether to continue the second round with the top two (2) or top three (3) candidates. The majority of Council (Councilor Honig, Councilor Roman and Councilor Reed opposed) determined to continue the second round of tally's with the top two (2) candidates which are Mr. Michael McNees and Mr. Steve Barwick. City Clerk Laura Litzan read the second round tally results into the record: Councilor Grifoni: 1. Mr. Michael McNees 2. Mr. Steve Barwick Councilor Young: 1. Mr. Michael McNees 2. Mr. Michael McNees MOTION by Councilor Honig, seconded by Vice-Chair Rios, request Council Chair and City Attorney Alan Gabriel negotiate a contract with Mr. Michael McNees. MOTION CARRIED BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: Yes: 7- Councilor Reed, Councilor Honig, Chair Brechnitz, Councilor Young, Councilor Roman, Councilor Grifoni and Vice-Chair Rios 4.
