(2) ROLL CALL Present: 5- Member Conner, Member Hogan, Member Kelly, Member Shagott and Vice-Chair Siegel Not Present: 2- Member Portu and Chair Richards (Note: Chair Richards arrived at the meeting at 3:20 pm.) (Note: Member Portu participated remotely via telephone at 3:24 pm.) ALSO PRESENT Daniel Smith, Director of Community Affairs Samantha Malloy, Manager, Parks, Culture and Recreation Dawn Snyder, Recreation Supervisor, Parks, and Recreation Martha Montgomery, Fleets and Facilities Supervisor (3) PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Vice-Chair Siegel. MOTION by Member Conner to Approve the November 21, 2023, PRAC, Minutes seconded by Member Shagott. MOTION CARRIES BY THE FOLLOWING VOICE VOTE: Yes: 5- Member Conner, Member Hogan, Member Kelly, Member Shagott and Vice-Chair Siegel (6) OLD BUSINESS See Proposed Agenda Topics for Next Meeting City of Marco Island Florida Page 1 Parks and Recreation Advisory Meeting Minutes - Final January 16, 2024 Committee (7) NEW BUSINESS Master Park Plan Presentation by Perez Planning + Design, LLC Mr. Carlos Perez began the presentation by introducing himself and Nick Stevens from Perez, Planning + Design, LLC as well as Phil Parnin from PROS Consulting. The presentation consisted of an overview of how the information will be collected for the Master Park Plan. PRAC Members were asked some questions and participated in an activity during the meeting. (8) STAFF COMMUNICATIONS Monthly Reports will be discussed at the February 20th meeting (9) CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION None. (10) PUBLIC COMMENT Dawn Kuhn (Tigertail Court) suggested that the city should purchase more land for parks and maintain what parks we have now. Ms. Kuhn also recommended the city purchase three-tier water fountains; one for adults, one for children and one for pets. Bill Thompson, Senior Softball league, expressed the group would like to be partners, participants and especially contributors at Winterberry Park. Winterberry Park is very busy all year round. The group would like to suggest putting up shade structures at the bleachers. Christine Dowell expressed her concern regarding safety, i.e. lighting and E-bikes in the parks. Diane Shagott (Bounty Ct) proposed the parks should have refillable water dispensers and the dog parks have paw washing stations. Ann Sepe, would like the city to preserve our parks, more trees, green space, and safety. Jane Hansen, expressed the idea of data driven feedback is a great idea. (11) NEXT MEETING: CONFIRMATION & ATTENDANCE Next PRAC Meeting will be held on February 20, 2023 at 3:30 pm. Chair Richards confirms attendance for February 20, 2024, at 3:30 pm.
