Waterways Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes - Final March 26, 2021 (1) CALL TO ORDER Chair Crain called the meeting to order at 9:00 A.M. (2) ROLL CALL Present: 4- Member Sokol, Vice-Chair Trotter, Member Wordehof and Chair Crain Absent: 2- Member Thompson and Member Winter Also Present Dr. Richard Blonna, Marco Island City Councilor Mr. Robert Roth (Barbarosa Ct.), Former Waterways Advisory Committee Member Mr. Jason Tomassetti, Marco Island Stormwater Engineer Ms. Diana Aviles, Public Works Department Administrative Assistant (3) Water Quality Discussion ID 21-1464 Recommended MS4 BMP As discussed at its regular meeting on March 18, 2021, the Committee agreed to come together in a 'Special-Called Meeting' to review, revise and re-prioritize the Committee Chair Crain's 'best practices' list prior to its presentation at the April 8, 2021 public 'Marco Island Water Quality Workshop' from 5:30 P.M. - 7:30 P.M. Former Waterways Advisory Committee member Robert Roth was invited to participate in the review and discussion with the Committee members in attendance, and contribute his experience (with visual examples) of various tools, techniques and resources that could, in his opinion, be employed by residents and the City to help reduce the effect of storm water runoff on the quality of the water in and around the Island. City Stormwater Engineer Jason Tomassetti contributed in support of the Committee's effort to host and communicate effectively to the public, and he addressed opportunities to apply tools and technologies at the City-wide level in its effort to improve water quality. Councilor Blonna offered perspective on effectively presenting and managing the Committee's communication of information to the attending public on April 8th.
