(2) ROLL CALL Present: 7- Vice-Chair High, Member Inacker, Member Snider, Member Sokol, Member Vlasuk, Member Wordehoff and Chair Winter (Note: Member Snider participated via telephone.) Also Present City Staff: Councilor, Rich Blonna Justin Martin, P.E., Director of Public Works (participated via telephone.) Tara Kosieracki, Administrative/Project Coordinator Martin Luna, Visual/Broadcast Technician (3) PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Chair Winter. (4) APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA MOTION by Vice-Chair High, seconded by Member Inacker, that the Agenda be Approved. (7) NEW BUSINESS None. (8) STAFF COMMUNICATIONS Justin Martin, P.E., Director of Public Works participated the meeting via telephone. City of Marco Island Florida Page 1 Waterways Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes - Final September 19, 2024 Director Martin updated the Committee regarding the tide leveling inner-canal project. Director Martin discussed the budget. He noted the bid offers were significantly higher versus the funding provided in the budget. Director Martin summarized the bidding process and mentioned the project has been placed on hold until the City can secure additional funding. Director Martin and Chair Winter ensued conversation regarding the grant process, micro tunneling, and legislative appropriation funding. Director Martin and the Board discussed the survey data for August 2024, navigational markers, and various challenges. (9) CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION Councilor, Rich Blonna updated the Committee of the Marco Island City Council's approval to increase the water quality testing budget. The Board expressed their gratitude to Councilor Blonna for his time and dedication to water quality. (10) PUBLIC COMMENT None. (11) NEXT MEETING: CONFIRMATION & ATTENDANCE - 10/17/24 @ 8:30 A.M. (12) PROPOSED AGENDA TOPICS FOR NEXT MEETING The Board agreed to the following items for the next Agenda: 1. Bathymetric (water depth and water body contour) surveys 2. Navigational Presentation (Vice-Chair High) 3. Seawall Challenges (Member Sokol) 4. November Committee Meeting - Water Quality Update (Member Wordehoff) (13) OTHER COMMITTEE COMMUNICATIONS Chair Winter noted that there are upcoming City Council elections. Chair Winter indicated that he would stay on the Committee until Councilor Folley's replacement is appointed. Councilor, Rich Blonna mentioned he would acquire information regarding the election and Committee appointment process. Councilor Blonna mentioned he would communicate with Chair Winter regarding the dates of transition. Member Wordehoff provided an update regarding the water quality monitoring stations and discussed Rookery Bay, Ten Thousand Islands, and Marco Island oxygen level data. Chair Winter complimented Director Martin on the N. Barfield sidewalks and swale project. Director Martin added there is an additional ex-filtration swale project going to bid once the plans are complete. Director Martin provided an update for Tigertail Lagoon markers. Vice-Chair High asked for a summary regarding the 4e plan. Director Martin provided details for the 4e plan. Director Martin indicated there are Public Works reports provided monthly to the City Council. Director Martin, Councilor Blonna, and the Board ensued conversation regarding the 4e Plan. Councilor Blonna provided insight of how the 4e plan was implemented. Director Martin added that the aerator project is moving forward as a pilot project to help with the oxygen levels. Councilor Blonna, Director Martin, and the Board ensued conversation regarding the Collier Creek navigational dredging. (14) ADJOURNMENT There being no further business before the Committee, Chair Winter adjourned the meeting at 9:32 A.M.
