Village of Marquette Green Lake County, Wisconsin Regular Meeting Minutes, January 8, 2024 Call to Order The regular meeting of the Village Board, for the Village of Marquette, was called to order by President Cybul at 7:05 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Roll Call Roll Call: President-Art Cybul-present Clerk-Susan Geraldi-present. Trustee-Peter Michalos-present Treasurer- Paula Gilbertson-present Trustee-Tony Deiss-present There were 5 citizens in attendance. Certification of Compliance with the Open Meetings Law Certification of Compliance with the Open Meetings law: Agenda notice was posted in three public places-Village Hall, kiosks at the Post Office and Truck Garage, also posted on the Village Website. Approve Agenda A motion to approve the agenda was made. Michalos/Deiss. Motion passed. (unanimous) Approval of Regular Minutes sent to Board members A motion to approve the minutes from the December meeting was made. Deiss/Michalos Motion passed. (Unanimous) Reading and Approval of Treasurer’s Report The Treasurer’s report was read. Motion to approve the Treasurer’s report was made. Michalos/Deiss. Motion passed. (unanimous) Approve Payment of Bills Approve payment of Bills: Presented for payment were vouchers 9841-9856 in the amount of $8760.09 plus the $4,400.00 for the maintained balance and utilities for the Grand total of $13,180.09 Motion to pay the bills aa presented and transfer from the appropriate accounts the amount of $11,700.00 to the General Fund. The motion to approve the bills, Deiss/ Michalos, Motion passed. (unanimous) Citizen Comments - Time Limits There were comments and thanks shared by citizens and discussions around the historical society and fire extinguisher checks. Discussion took place about the upcoming fire extinguisher service and its implications for historical and public buildings. Discuss/Approve The board discussed the need for fire inspections across the village, particularly for businesses, the village hall, church museum, and other pertinent entities. It was noted that new arrangements might be made for inspection services, and there were also discussions around fire prevention and potential use of funds for community safety measures like free smoke detectors. Board Reminders / Updates The board brought up various updates including the upcoming street rebuild project, ARPA funds, and ambulance service challenges. Information regarding the road project scheduled for 2025, and importance of funding for the curb installation was discussed. Additionally, there was information about potential funding opportunities from the county and strategies for handling emergency services. Tony Deiss has contacted various lawn companies and is awaiting call backs regarding lawn mowing bids. The clerk will put an ad in the local paper soliciting bids for lawn mowing.
