BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES

Call to Order
BDC Vice President, Ron Bacon, called the meeting to order at 4:30 pm.
Minutes of the December Regular Meetings
A motion was made by Dan Pease to approve the February 2017 Minutes, that motion was
seconded by Dave LaClair and passed with all members present voting ‘Aye’.

Comparative Budget for February 2017
Report is unavailable
Operations Committee
AT the meeting on March 13 the easements from Curran Renewable were available,
meaning that the projects currently underway at the Industrial Park can move forward.
Infrastructure Committee
No meeting was held this past month
Marketing Committee
Tom: The Committee did not meet this month
Industrial Park/Rail Spur
Tom: There was a meeting on January 30 with discussion about designing a logo and the
group continues to work on how to implement improvements along the corridor.
Industrial Park/Rail Spur
Tom: John VanderLoo, from Empire State Development, has said that the BDC’s paperwork
is all in process and we should be hearing from them soon.
Massena Core of the Community
Tom: We have received two applications to date, but do expect there will be more coming
in before the deadline.
Mayor’s Leadership Council
There was no meeting this month
Massena Moving Forward Community Coalition
Tom: A meeting is planned for next week.
North Country Alliance
Tom: I was unable to attend this month’s meeting
RACER/General Motors Site
Tom: Sen. Gillibrand asked about the site, and about who has control of the property.
Restore New York Grant
Tom: This grant comes under the Empire State Development and so there is some
uncertainty as to whether the BDC will be handling the processing of the refund.
St. Lawrence County Economic Advisory Board
Tom: The Board met this month, discussed Community Revitalization; why there isn’t any
active horse riding groups/trails in our area. NYPA has sent out requests for proposals of
enterprise development.
St. Lawrence Soyway
They are still waiting for finalization of their funding and hope that they will be ready to
move forward at the end of April.
Theatre
Tom: They are in discussions about resubmitting a grant request to the New York Main
Street Program.

A motion was made by Dan Pease to adjourn at 5:20 pm, that motion was seconded by Jeff
Dobbins and passed with all members present voting ‘Aye’.
The next meeting of the Board of Directors of the Massena Business Development
Corporation will be held on Thursday, April 20 at 4:30 pm, in Room 30 of the Town Hall.
