BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION FOR A GREATER MASSENA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES August 17, 2017 Board Members: Paul Rufa, President Dan Pease Ron Bacon Anthony Viskovich Chris Herrick Excused: Dave LaClair Jeff Dobbins Staff: Tom Sullivan, Executive Director Linda Williams, Secretary Call to Order BDC President, Paul Rufa, called the meeting to order at 4:30 pm. Minutes of the June Regular Meeting A motion was made by Dan Pease to approve the June 2017 Minutes, that motion was seconded by and passed with all members present voting ‘Aye’. Note: The July meeting had been cancelled Financial Reports for June and July 2017 A motion was made by Dan Pease to table approval of the June 2017 Finance Reports, that motion was seconded by Anthony Viskovich and passed with all members present voting ‘Aye’. A motion was made by Dan Pease to table approval of the July 2017 Finance Reports, that motion was seconded by Anthony Viskovich and passed with all members present voting ‘Aye’. Comparative Budget for June and July 2017 The reports were reviewed by the Board; $1310 will be redirected from Marketing to the Industrial Park Engineering. Operations Committee No meeting was held this past month. Infrastructure Committee No meeting was held this past month. Marketing Committee Again, there was no meeting Alcoa/Arconics Update Tom: No news regarding the plant, everything appears to be going well at the Massena site. Grasse River Blueway Corridor Tom: Nothing new to report Grasse River Clean Up Tom: There has been a lot of preparation in process in Massena Center, cleaning will be an on-going project through 2019. Industrial Park/Rail Spur Tom: No new development Massena Core of the Community Tom: The BDC has mailed four checks to businesses that have completed projects, work is progressing at many of the sites. Moving Massena Forward Community Coalition Tom: This group met on June 24 with updates from the committees. New York Power Proceeds Tom: They have now appointed their last Board member. North Country Alliance Tom: They recently approved three projects and have passed them on to NYPA for approval. North Country Regional Economic Development Council Tom: They are working on a few different projects/proposals RACER/General Motors Site Venue Strategies is still in discussion regarding this site, but nothing definite as yet. Restore New York Grant The Village should begin work on their project soon St. Lawrence Country Economic Development They recently held another ‘mixer’ in Canton, and one is planned for September 13 to discuss marketing St. Lawrence Soyway Tom: Discussions on on-going Theatre Tom: Their Consolidated Funded Application has been filed by the BDC and we are just awaiting word on grants Aug 17, 2017 Minutes - BDC Board Meeting Pg 2 of 3 Consultant & Liaison Reports No one was present Questions from the Press No attendance at this meeting Adjournment A motion was made by Dan Pease to adjourn at 5:30 pm, that motion was seconded by Anthony Viscovich and passed with all members present voting ‘Aye’.
