BOARD OF PARK COMMISSION MEETING
MINUTES
May 06, 2024 at 4:45 PM
1260 North Road Mauston, WI
1. Call to Order/Roll Call- The Board of Park Commissioners met on Monday, May 6, 2024 in the
meeting room at the Public Works Building. Chair Mike Taake called the meeting to order at 4:47
PM. Members present were Laura Taake, Amanda Ketchum, Dan Holzberger, Todd Galbrecht,
Mike Taake, and Jim Kolba (via phone). Member absent Lori Hammer. Also present was City
Administrator Daron Haugh.
2. Appointment of Chair- Laura Taake/Dan Holzberger to nominate Mike Taake, as chair.
Nominations closed. Motion carried.
3. Appointment of Secretary- Jim Kolba/Amanda Ketchum to nominate Laura Taake, as secretary.
Nominations closed. Motion carried.
4. Minutes- Dan Holzberger/Amanda Ketchum to approve minutes from April 08, 2024. Motion
carried.
5. Review Financial Reports- No questions or concerns were fielded.
6. Discussion on the Big Dig Application- Chair Mike Taake provided the Park Board with an
overall list of projects to include in the Big Dig Grant. The Board agreed on “safety” being the
number one priority and to begin with Lions Park. Mike Taake and Daron Haugh will continue to
work on grant applications along with MSA. Todd Galbrecht will continue to provide the necessary
photographs. The Board added leveling the athletic field and parking lot safety, all at Lions Park, to
the priority list.
7. Staff Report
Alliant Energy Property along Water Street- Chair Mike Taake, on behalf of the Park Board, will
continue to pursue beautifying the newly abandoned property. Laura Taake agreed to draft a letter
to address this issue with Alliant Energy with Park Board’s approval. The board agrees with Daron
Haugh’s experience that this issue is not a big priority with Alliant Energy. Maybe the Board can
make it happen.
8. Next Agenda- June 03, 2024 (site to be determined) 2024 parks walk-through activity
10. Adjourn Amanda Ketchum/Laura Taake to adjourn and the motion carried. The meeting adjourned
at 5:25 PM.
