PARKS COMMISSION MINUTES February 03, 2025 at 4:45 PM 1260 North Road Mauston, WI 1. Call to Order/Roll Call The Board of Park Commissioners met on Monday, February 03, 2025, at the Public Works Building. Chair Mike Taake called the meeting to order at 4:50 PM. Members present were Mike Taake, Laura Taake, Amanda Ketcham, Jim Kolba, Dan Holzberger. Members absent Lori Hammer and Todd Galbrecht. The meeting was improved by the attendance of Public Works Director, Rob Nelson and Parks Superintendent/Arborist Jordan Wilke. 2. Minutes: Amanda Ketcham/Jim Kolba to approve minutes from December 02, 2024 meeting. Motion carried. (January 6, 2025 meeting lacked quorum) a. December 2, 2024 3. Financial Reports: Financial statements were viewed, reviewed and thus generated a question or concern about Parks/Library. Jordan Wilke reminded the Park Board that his crew does all the mulch and landscaping surrounding the Hatch Public Library. a. Financial reports 4. Discussion and recommendation on moving forward with the Jones Park restructure project. Jones Park Restructuring: Rob Nelson and Jordan Wilke will move forward in putting together the budget for restructuring Jones Park to a universal athletic field. The budget will generate the bid proposal. The project scope includes fencing, grading and drainage, light and tree/stump removal. Jordan and Rob will repurpose as much of the current fencing as possible. They will look into a 2% crown with the many options of topsoil and sod/seeding and in ground irrigation. Jordan Wilke will look into getting the antiquated water wheel up and running? Questions about repurposing the current dugouts, concrete pad under bleachers and the bleachers, themselves, still plague their thoughts. Portable soccer and football goal posts are under consideration. The dilapidated parking lot on the south end zone will also be improved. For future thoughts, the Board will look into making improvements on the restrooms. 5. Staff Report 6. Friends of Mauston Parks 7. Adjourn
