PARKS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES December 01, 2025 at 4:45 PM 1260 North Road Mauston, WI 1. Call to Order/Roll Call: The Board of Parks Commission met on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Public Works Building. Chair Mike Taake called the meeting to order at 4:48 p.m. Members present were Mike Taake, Laura Taake, Dan Holzberger, Lori Hammer, Amanda Ketcham, and Mary Ann Allaby. Absent was Todd Galbrecht. Also present were City Administrator Daron Haugh, Parks Superintendent Jordan Wilke, Luella Wilke, and Live Wilke. 2. Minutes: Motion by Hammer, seconded by Ketcham, to approve the minutes from November 3, 2025. Motion carried by voice vote. 3. Financial Reports: The financial reports were reviewed with no concerns or questions. 4. Staff Report a. Big Dig Grant Application: Haugh announced that the City has been awarded a Big Dig Grant. He also reported that he is currently working with MSA on the Stewardship Grant Application. b. Stewardship Grant Application: Following a lengthy discussion, Haugh and Holzberger will explore how the two grant opportunities may complement one another rather than remain separate initiatives. Wilke reminded the Board that a finalized design for Lions Park will be essential as both grants progress. c. May Park Improvements: Chair Taake continues discussions regarding potential improvements and additions to the disc golf course at May Park, noting that the park remains a popular local sledding area during the winter months. Wilke provided an update on the walking trail on top of Mile Bluff, reporting that all three recreational amenities are well utilized by residents. Haugh also updated the Board on two abated properties. 5. Adjourn: Motion by Holzberger, seconded by Allaby, to adjourn. Motion carried by voice vote.
