POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION MINUTES
April 18, 2024 at 4:45 PM

1. Call to Order/Roll Call- The Police and Fire Commission met at a special meeting on April 18,
2024, in the Council Chambers of Mauston City Hall. Chair McGuire called the meeting to order at
5:02 p.m. Members present were Jack Hammer, Bill Jones, Brian McGuire, Gary Purvis, and Katie
Gruman. Also present was McMahon representative Gerald Kudek, Fire Dept. Lt. Rob Resch and
Fire Dept. Lt. Rob Nelson.
2. Closed Session- Jones/Gruman motion to move into Closed Session pursuant to Wisconsin State
Statute 19.85(1)(c) considering employment, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any
public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility (Fire
Chief interviews) Motion carried on 5-0 roll call vote at 5:03 p.m.
3. Reconvene in Open Session- Gruman/Hammer to reconvene in Open Session at 8:26
p.m. Motion carried by voice vote.
4. Result of Closed Session Matters- The PFC is moving forward with the hiring process.
5. Adjourn- Hammer/McGuire to adjourn – motion carried by voice vote – meeting adjourned at 8:33
p.m.

It is possible that action will be taken on any of the items on the agenda and that the agenda may be
discussed in any order. It is also possible that a quorum of other governmental bodies of the municipality
may be in attendance at the above-stated meeting to gather information; no action will be taken by any
governmental body at the above-stated meeting other than the governmental body specifically referred
to above in this notice.
