MENOMONIE AIRPORT COMMISSION
January 19, 2022
The Menomonie Airport Commission was called to order by Chairman Dr. Dan
Johnson at 6:00pm on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 in the City Council Chambers
at 800 Wilson Ave. Other Commission members present included: Arvin Solsaa,
Kerry McCauley, Randy Sommerfeld. Others in attendance included: Randy
Eide, Lowell Prange and Darrel Gibson.
The December 15, 2021 minutes were accepted by consensus.
There were no Public Comments.
Gibson informed the Commission that work on the fuel dispensers is complete.
Eide informed the Commission that the second Public Hearing associated with
the AWOS replacement petition was held and the petition was forwarded to the
Bureau of Aeronautics today (January 19, 2022). The BOA will package our
request with other airports requesting AWOS replacement.
Chairman Johnson asked the Commission if they would like to pursue approach
lights on RW 09 or RW 09-27 given the pending Airport Improvement Act
funding. The Commission expressed support for approach lighting and asked to
review a complete future project list at the forthcoming meeting.
The Airport Manager presented his report. Some concern regarding failed PAPI
lighting on RW 09 and 27. City Community Services staff will look into the
issue with the help of electrical contractors. The Airport Manager also
expressed some concern regarding the low level of lighting in the FBO hangar.
MOTION to adjourn by Solsaa, seconded by McCauley. MOTION passed.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 6:00pm at
the City Council Chambers (800 Wilson Ave).
