Meeting Minutes
April 20, 2023
The Menomonie Airport Commission was called to order by Chairman Dr. Dan
Johnson at 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 20, 2023 in the Menomonie Municipal
Airport Terminal Building Conference Room. Other Commission members
present included: Arvin Solsaa, Kerry McCauley, Randy Sommerfeld, and Earl
Wildenberg. Others in attendance included: Darrel Gibson, Kevin Oium, David
Schofield, Eric Atkinson, Ross Nelson, and Jim Tenneson.
There were no public comments.
The March 21, 2023 minutes were accepted by consensus.
David Schofield provided an update on AWOS, and the master plan project. SHE
has come to an agreement with the Bureau of Aeronautics and will hold a kickoff
meeting next month.
David Schofield provided an update that the petition was accepted. SEH was
selected to be the consultant for the hangar project and a contract was being
negotiated with the Bureau of Aeronautics.
Dr. Dan Johnson spoke about Darrel Gibson’s report. Darrel Gibson described
issues regarding PAPI lights.
Dr. Dan Johnson and Kevin Oium presented a map of hanger locations in
reference to Ross Nelson’s hangar requests. Options were provided on hangar
size and potential issues related to the footprints. Commissioners discussed the
various options and were in acceptance the hangers wouldn’t line up.
Commissioners agreed upon a 56-foot hangar depth if fire protection can be
provided for Ross Nelson’s hangar request.
Dr. Dan Johnson and Ross Nelson will need lease agreements for the hangar.
Earl Wildenberg motioned to adjourn, seconded by Arvin Solsaa. Motion passed.
A future meeting data was tentatively scheduled for 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May
17, 2023 in the Menomonie Municipal Airport Terminal Building Conference
