Meeting Minutes
May 18, 2023
The Menomonie Airport Commission was called to order by Chairman Dr. Dan Johnson at
6:00 pm on Thursday, May 18, 2023 in the Menomonie Municipal Airport Terminal Building
Conference Room. Other Commission members present included: Arvin Solsaa, Randy
Sommerfeld, and Earl Wildenberg. Others in attendance included: Darrel Gibson, Steven
Lee, David Schofield, Eric Atkinson, Ross Nelson, and Melissa Underwood (SEH).
There were no public comments.
The April 20, 2023 minutes were accepted by consensus with note of correct spelling of Jim
Tennessen’s name and SEH.
David Schofield provided an update on AWOS. Wis BOA is considering the request. Melissa
Underwood discussed the Master Plan project and scheduling a kick off meeting on June 21,
2023. Wis BOA has not yet signed SEH’s contract.
David Schofield provided an update on the transient hangar project. A scoping meeting has
been scheduled for June 8, 2023.
Darrel Gibson provided the Airport Report.
David Schofield presented the lease for Ross Nelson’s hangar. The City is working with Mr.
Nelson and Cedar Corporation to finalize lease area. A motion was made by Solsaa, seconded
by Sommerfeld. Motion passed.
David Schofield presented the lease for Dr. Dan Johnson’s hangar. The City is working with
Dr. Johnson and Cedar Corporation to finalize lease area. A motion was made by
Sommerfeld, seconded by Wildenberg. Motion passed. Earl will sign this lease agreement.
Solsaa turned in his resignation, Wildenberg has agreed to continue on the Airport
Commission for another term, Vicki Jess has indicated she no longer wants to participate in
the planning of Air Fest, and David Schofield provided an update on the Wis BOA crack filling
program.
Items for future meetings included adjusting the cost of future leases.
Arvin Solsaa motioned to adjourn, seconded by Earl Wildenberg. Motion passed.
A future meeting data was tentatively scheduled for 5:00 pm on Wednesday, June 21, 2023
in the Menomonie Municipal Airport Terminal Building Conference Room.
