Menomonie Airport Commission Meeting Minutes July 9, 2024 The Menomonie Airport Commission was called to order by Dr. Dan Johnson at 4:30 pm on Wednesday July 9, 2024 at City Hall. Other Commission members present included: Steven Lee, and Randy Sommerfeld. Others in attendance included: David Schofield, Eric Atkinson, Mayor Knaack (City of Menomonie), Darrel Gibson (Gibson Aviation), Melissa Underwood SEH, Caleb Rosenberg SEH, Christopher Brett SEH, Ryan Falch SEH, Tyler Leslie WisBOA, Bruce Trimble, Ron Riek, Reuben Riek, and Erik Guenard UW-Stout. No public comments were received. Minutes from the June 19, 2024 meeting were approved by acclamation. Johnson shared an e-mail dated July 7 from Ian Augustin indicating that the sale between Gibson Aviation Services and Link Aviation will not happen and thanking the Commission for their support and efforts. Gibson presented the Airport Manager’s Report. Underwood gave an update regarding the master plan process. Rosenberg presented Options #1 and #2 for the north end of the taxilane near the terminal building. Gibson indicated that he felt Option #1 was far better. Dr. Johnson concurred. No dissenting opinions were shared. Underwood presented the obstacle action plan. Schofield noted that he has discussed removal of obstruction F-3 at the east end of 9/27 with Lindstrom Equipment. Underwood presented potential funding sources. Underwood presented the draft list of capital improvement projects and asked for input. Schofield suggested Projects #5, 6, 7, and 8 should be very low on the priority list. Dr. Johnson suggested that Projects #1, 14, and 16 should be high. Gibson concurred. Sommerfeld moved to direct SEH to place Projects #1, 14, and 16 high on the priority list, and Projects #5, 6, 7, and 8 low on the priority list. Seconded by Lee. All Ayes. Motion approved. Underwood noted that the next meeting would be an open house to be held at the Airport. Schofield to discuss dates with Underwood, Gibson and Johnson and send out invites to hangar owners. Gibson to provide invite to major users. Tentatively scheduled next Airport Commission meeting for August 14th at 6:00 pm at the KLUM Terminal Building. Sommerfeld moved to adjourn. Seconded by Lee.
