Galloway | Mesquite, Texas Present: Mayor Stan Pickett and Councilmembers Greg Noschese, Bruce Archer, Bill Porter, and Shirley Roberts, City Manager Cliff Keheley and City Secretary Sonja Land. Absent: Councilmembers Dennis Tarpley and Jeff Casper. SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING - CITY COUNCIL CHAMBER - 9:00 A.M. CANVASS OF MAY 7, 2016, JOINT ELECTION OTHER BUSINESS 1 Canvass results of Joint Election held May 7, 2016, for the purpose of electing Councilmembers for Places 3, 4 and 5. Sonja Land, City Secretary, read the results, according to the canvass reports supplied by the Dallas County Elections Department, of the General Election held May 7, 2016, for the purpose of electing Councilmembers for Places 3, 4 and 5. 2 Consider a resolution declaring the results of the May 7, 2016, Joint Election. Mr. Archer moved to approve Resolution No. 25-2016, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MESQUITE, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF AN ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF MESQUITE, TEXAS, ON MAY 7, 2016, FOR THE ELECTION OF CITY COUNCILMEMBERS FOR PLACES 3, 4 AND 5; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. Number of votes cast for the Office of Councilmember, Place 3: NAME NUMBER OF VOTES % Nathan Bosley 484 16.45% Bruce Archer 2,459 83.55% Number of votes cast for the Office of Councilmember, Place 4: NAME NUMBER OF VOTES % Dan Aleman 2,309 79.08% Akram Mutawe 341 11.68% Cesar Villa 270 9.25% Number of votes cast for the Office of Councilmember, Place 5: NAME NUMBER OF VOTES % Greg Noschese 2,082 70.50% Yolanda Shepard 871 29.50% Motion was seconded by Mr. Noschese and approved by all voting "Aye." City Secretary Sonja Land administered the Oath of Office to Councilmembers Bruce Archer, Place 3, Dan Aleman, Place 4, and Greg Noschese, Place 5. Mr. Aleman entered the meeting. ADJOURNMENT Mr. Aleman moved to adjourn the meeting. Motion was seconded by Mr. Porter and approved unanimously.
