Present: Mayor Stan Pickett and Councilmembers Bruce Archer, Jeff Casper, and Dan Aleman and
City Manager Cliff Keheley and City Secretary Sonja Land.
Absent: Councilmembers Bill Porter, Greg Noschese and Dennis Tarpley.
SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING - CITY COUNCIL CHAMBER - 6:03 P.M.
OTHER BUSINESS
1 Canvass results of Joint Election held May 6, 2017, for the purpose of electing a
Mayor and Councilmembers for Places 1, 2 and 6.
Sonja Land, City Secretary, read the results, according to the canvass reports
provided by the Dallas County Elections Department, of the General Election held
May 6, 2017, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and Councilmembers for Places
1, 2 and 6.
2 Consider a resolution declaring the results of the May 6, 2017, Joint Election.
Mr. Archer moved to approve Resolution No. 21-2017, A RESOLUTION OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MESQUITE, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE RETURNS
AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF AN ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF
MESQUITE, TEXAS, ON MAY 6, 2017, FOR THE ELECTION OF A MAYOR AND CITY
COUNCILMEMBERS FOR PLACES 1, 2 AND 6; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE THEREOF.
Number of votes cast for the Office of Mayor:

Stan Pickett 2,622 100.00%
Number of votes cast for the Office of Councilmember, Place 1:
NAME NUMBER OF VOTES %
Robert Miklos 1,982 61.76%
Bill Porter 1,227 38.24%
Number of votes cast for the Office of Councilmember, Place 2:
NAME NUMBER OF VOTES %
Jeff Casper 2,565 100.00%
Number of votes cast for the Office of Councilmember, Place 6:
NAME NUMBER OF VOTES %
Tandy Boroughs 2,497 100.00%
Motion was seconded by Mr. Aleman and approved unanimously. (Resolution No.

3 Installation of newly elected Mayor and Councilmembers.
City Secretary Sonja Land administered the Oath of Office to Mayor Stan Pickett
who administered the Oath of Office to Councilmembers Robert Miklos, Place 1,
Jeff Casper, Place 2, and Tandy Boroughs, Place 6.
Mr. Miklos and Mr. Boroughs entered the meeting.
4 Consider appointment of a Mayor Pro Tem and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem for
one-year terms.
Mr. Archer moved to appoint Jeff Casper as Mayor Pro Tem and Dan Aleman as
Deputy Mayor Pro Tem for one-year terms. Motion was seconded by Mr.
Boroughs and approved unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT
Mr. Miklos moved to adjourn the meeting. Motion was seconded by Mr. Boroughs
and approved unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 6:18 p.m.
Pastor Ricky McGilvery, Pleasant Grove Academy, Mesquite, Texas, gave an invocation.
