SPECIAL MEETING – July 23, 2018 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Michigan City, Indiana, met in SPECIAL SESSION on Monday morning, July 23, 2018, at the hour of 8:30 a.m., in the Council Chambers, in the City Hall Building, located at 100 East Michigan Boulevard, Michigan City Indiana – a regular meeting room of this Board. The meeting was called to order by President Steve Janus, who presided. Noted present: Steve Janus and Virginia Keating (2) Absent: Rich Murphy (1) A QUORUM WAS NOTED PRESENT. Also noted in attendance: Amber Lapaich, Corporate Counsel Charles Peller, City Engineer Kalon Kubik, Mayor’s Administrator Gale Neulieb, City Clerk Dawn Debald, Assistant Deputy City Clerk AWARDING OF BID – Park and Schools Traffic Safety Improvements Project Corporate Counsel, Amber Lapaich addressed the Board stating that the Engineers and herself have reviewed the two (2) bids that were received; advising that Rieth-Riley Construction Co. Inc., was the lowest most responsive bidder in the amount of $357,817.00; recommending Rieth-Riley is awarded the project. Virginia Keating made the motion to award the bid for the Park and Schools Traffic Safety Improvement Project to Rieth-Riley in the sum of $357,817.00. The motion was seconded by President Janus and carried as follows: AYES: MEMBERS Janus and Keating (2). NAYS: None (0). Motion Carries. REQUEST FOR SOLICITATION OF BIDS – Tom Weinmann, Haas & Associates, LLC., is requesting to solicit bids for the 2018 City Wide Pavement Repair Project – Cleveland Avenue -Phase 2 Corporate Counsel, Amber Lapaich addressed the Board advising that Tom Weinmann, Project Manager, Haas & Associates has prepared the bid packet for the project; asking for approval of the solicitation package. Virginia Keating made the motion to approve the request for solicitation of bids for the 2018 City Wide Pavement Repair Project – Cleveland Avenue, Phase 2. The motion was seconded by Vice- President Murphy and carried as follows: AYES: MEMBERS Janus and Keating (2). NAYS: None (0). Motion Carries. ADJOURNMENT President Janus stated as there were no other items on the agenda to be considered by the Board at this time, declared the meeting ADJOURNED (approximately 8:33 a.m.). Virginia Keating made the motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded by President Janus and carried as follows: AYES: MEMBERS Janus and Keating (2). NAYS: (0).
