MC Commission for Women Minutes – July 10, 2014 1. Meeting called to order at 5:45 p.m. 2. Attendees: Deb Chubb, Pat Boy, Faye Moore, Kathy Dennis, Beth Pishker, Sharon Carnes 3. Approval of June Minutes – Tabled 4. Treasurer’s Report – Tabled 5. Old Business: a. Celebrating Women in the Arts Event – The group discussed various signature cocktails for the event along with other details. b. N.E.W. (Non-traditional Employment for Women) An event is being planned to bring 8th grade girls from around the county to the Career Tech Center here in MC for a day to tour the various programs and listen to women speakers in non-traditional careers. Audra Peterson is working on setting a date in October. She has asked us to help with food and to find speakers. Deb, Faye & Sharon volunteered to be on a committee to pursue this activity. 6. New Business: a. Kathy Dennis suggested that we use some of the money from our event to develop posters for retailers in Michigan City that say, “No Guns Allowed on Premises”. The group decided to discuss it more at the next meeting. 7. Council Liaison Comments: a. Pat Boy informed the group that Dove was donating materials for backpacks to be distributed at the Back to School Rally. 8. Next meeting will be on August 14th at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall
