All meetings are held at City Hall in the Mayor’s (West) Conference Room.
All meetings are at Noon.
MISSION STATEMENT:
To identify and recommend public remedies to increase, broaden and improve the
economic, educational, social and professional status of the African-American male
locally, statewide and nationally.
We have five committees and each committee address our mission statement.
1. Criminal Justice –Joan Ganschow, Chair – Advise of changes in laws, trainings and
information on what is happening in the Criminal Justice area.
2. Education Committee- Invite speakers who are involved in training and various
education programs in Michigan City and the surrounding area.
3. Employment/Economic Development Committee – Commissioner Willie Milsap
assisted in getting Work One Office back in Michigan City. We work closely with Grace
Learning Center.
4. Health Committee –Albertine Allen, Chair- and is the Director of La Porte County
Minority Health Coalition – Provide free health screenings; education on chronic
diseases; Commission of Social Status Barbershop Initiative, etc.
5. Social Factors – Commissioner Marty Corley, Chair- His committee has established
Black Male Youth Leadership Workshop/Academy; Four Community Resource Centers
at Four Churches in the City and worked on the Expungement Informational Forums; etc.
