I. Call to Order
a. Meeting opened up by Chairperson Marty Corley
II. Roll call
a. Present in person: Marty Corley, Dennis Carroll, Albertine Allen,
Joan Ganschow, and Walter Cox
b. Present via zoom: Kerri Hogan, Willie Milsap, Nila Williams,
Kenneth Fly and Rodney McCormick
c. Absent: Latonya Troutman, Lester Norvell, Jacarra Williams,
Wendel McCollum, and Tracie Tillman
III. Treasurer’s Report
a. 2,298,92
Motion and second to approve. Approved by all
attendees voting yes.
b. November minutes were presented and there was a
motion and second approve. Approved by all attendees
voting yes.
IV. New Business
A. Presentation: Kenneth Fly
a. Commissioner Fly talked about the SOAR afterschool
program that was being held at the HOPE Center, Monday
through Friday, from 3-6 pm. Program Director is Taylor
Tillman and Allison Scates
b. 30 children are signed up.
V. Old Business
A. Nominating Committee
i. Members are Commissioner Tillman,
Allen and Norvell. All Commissiners
interested in an Executive Committee
seat to contact one of these
commissioners. The committee will
present the responses at the next meeintg.
There will nominations taken from the
floor and then a vote will take place.
B. Bylaws
i. Will wait to see what happens with the
new ordinance reference residency of
Commissioners.
C. Fundraising
i. Still looking for ideals for fundraising.
VI. Sub-Committee Reports
A. Education (Commissioner McCollum)
i. Mccolum sent in a written report stating
opportunity employment opportunities
with the school system.
ii. Also, commissioners can contact the
building principals reference volunteer
opportunities
B. Health (Commissioners Williams and Allen)
i. COVID clinic for booster shots at
Michigan City Housing Authority main
office. Partnered with Healthlinc.
C. Employment (Commissioner Milsap)
i. Spoke about email sent out reference job
opportunities with the LaPorte County
Government that was communicated
with the Commission by County
Commisioner Sheila Matias
D. Criminal Justice (Commissioner Ganschow)
i. No Drug Free Partnership meeting in
January
ii. Peer counseling training opportunity
through Healthlinc. Check on Healthlinc
website for additional information.
E. Social Factors (Commissioner Corley)
i. Michigan City Black History Month
Committee is meeting and working on
programming for the month of February
2022.
VII. Good of the Order
Commissioner Fly requested a donation for the Christmas Toy Drive
and gift program for the Fly Youth Christmas initiative. There was a
motion made to give $200.00 with a second to approve. Approved by
all attendees voting yes.
The program is 12/24/2021 starting at 11am at HOPE.

Motion and second to approve. Approved by all attendees voting yes.
Commissioners were advised to pay attention to their expiration dates
concerning their terms of service to the Commission.
