Roll Call: Present: Stasi Benning, Walter Cox, Pastor Carroll, Kenny Fly, Sr. Rodney McCormick, Pastor Kim Williams, Willie Milsap, Faye Moore, Linda Conley, Wendell, McCullom (Zoom), Absent: T. Tillman Pledge Mission Statement read by Chairman Hogan Approval of March Minutes: Moved, seconded, and passed. Treasurer Report: No changes since the last meeting. Moved and seconded. Report approved. Balance $2,098.22 New Business: HB 1296- New open carry, no permit gun law going into effect July 1, 2022. Chairman Hogan will draft letter to the legislature regarding the new law and its impact on communities of color. Conflict resolution Importance of voting Fundraising opportunities Old Business: Commissioner McCormick moved to form a committee and select a second administrator to weed out stuff not related to the mission statement. Motion 2nd by Commissioner Cox. Roll call taken motion passed. Sub Committees Reports: Education Chair Commissioner McCullom reported to the board on Rev BJ Ashley Scholarship. Amount $1000.00. Deadline 05/06.2022, 4 pm. Remind parents that children starting kindergarten must be 5yrs by October 1st. Summer programs Co-Chairs Fly reminded of Fly High Youth services. Commissioner McCormick on the MCAS need of volunteers. Employment: Chair Commissioner Milsap: LaPorte County Job Fair on 4/18/2022 beginning at 9 am at the LaPorte County Complex building 809 State St. LaPorte, Indiana. Criminal Justice: Co-Chair Benning spoke on Bridge to Manhood Program for 13-18-year-olds scheduled for April 23 and April 30, 2022, 9 am-12 pm located at Elston Middle School. Program sponsored by juvenile probation and MCAS. There will be a Juvenile Symposium sponsored by Laporte Circuit Court scheduled for May 20th, 2022, at PNW.
