Michigan  City  Community  Enrichment  Corporation     Mayor’s  West  Conference  Room   100  East  Michigan  Boulevard,  Michigan  City,  Indiana   Meeting  Minutes:    February  12,  2014      6:00  P.M.     Call  to  Order:  The  meeting  was  called  to  order  by  Chair  Larry  Silvestri  at  6:08  P.M.  in  the  Mayor’s  West  Conference   Room   Roll  Call:    Present  –  Chair  Larry  Silvestri,  Sue  Webster,  Michael  McKervey,  George  Kazmierczak,  Ron  Miller,  Chris   Carter,  Jack  VanEtten,  Steve  Janus,  Joan  Wiseman,  Attorney  Atley  Price  and  Jan  Chamberlin.       Approval  of  January  8,  2013  Minutes:    Ron  Miller  motioned  to  accept  the  minutes  as  presented,  Sue  Webster   seconded,  motion  carried  unanimously.   Claims:    Jan  Chamberlin  -­‐  $356;  Beacher  for  envelopes,  stationery,  etc  -­‐  $23.04.    Motion  to  accept  and  pay:  Steve   Janus.  Second:  Sue  Webster.  The  vote  was  unanimous.    The  claims  were  signed  for  submission  to  Harbour  Trust.   Joan  Wiseman  made  motion  to  pay  the  Zoo  their  $100,000  for  2013.    Ron  Miller  second,  all  in  favor.   Larry  Silvestri  mentioned  the  annual  “Local  Development  Report  to  the  Gaming  Commission”  is  due  at  the  end  of   this  month.    If  Harbour  Trust  does  this,  it  will  cost  $100/hour.    A  committee  was  formed  consisting  of  George   Kazmierczak  and  Michael  McKervey.    Joan  Wiseman  motioned  George  and  Mike  should  fill  out  the  paperwork  for   this  report.    Sue  Webster  seconded;  all  in  favor.           Financial  Statement:  Michael  McKervey  distributed  copies  of  the  current  statement  to  all  members.    Balance  is   $873,436.50  as  of  2/7/14.   Old  Business:    Larry  Silvestri  reported  that  the  2013-­‐2014  reporting  form  has  been  removed  from  the  MCCEC   website.  The  Secretary  of  State  information  was  updated  on  their  website,  but  Joan  Wiseman's  name  as  treasurer   has  to  be  changed  to  Michael  McKervey.       rd Grant  Reporting  progress:    Jan  Chamberlin  reported  all  3  quarter  reports  have  been  received.    She  reviewed  all   remaining  balances;  they  appear  to  be  in  order,  as  some  will  spend  their  funds  during  the  remaining  school  year.     Most  remaining  balances  are  approximately  one  fourth  of  their  original  amounts.    The  only  one  of  concern  is  the   Challenger  Grant.    Larry  Silvestri  has  been  monitoring  that  grant.  The  last  reports  are  due  on  March  31,  2014.   Banquet  Committee  Report:    Sue  Webster  reported  on  the  upcoming  banquet  scheduled  March  19,  2014.    Each   organization  will  be  allowed  2  guests.    Additional  invitations  will  be  sent  to  the  Mayor  and  his  Wife,  the  City   Council  members,  the  MC  Clerk's  office,  the  News  Dispatch  and  WIMS  radio.    A  press  release  will  be  sent  out  the   day  after  the  banquet.    No  projection  package  is  necessary;  the  information  can  go  into  the  program,  saving  a  few   hundred  dollars.   Ron  Miller  will  read  the  recipient  names  in  alphabetical  order.   Jan  Chamberlin  and  Sue  Webster  will  handle  the  reception  table.   Jack  VanEtten  will  take  pictures  for  the  News  Dispatch.       Determination  of  award  recipients  and  amounts:   Sue  Webster  is  an  independent  contractor  for  Youth  Services  Bureau.    She  will  abstain  from  voting  for  those   grants.   There  was  a  discussion  regarding  Parents  and  Friends.     It  was  decided  to  award  a  total  of  $700,000.00  in  grant  money.   Recipients  and  their  awarded  amounts  were  voted  upon  as
