Michigan City Community Enrichment Corporation Mayor’s Conference Room Regular Meeting Minutes: February 8, 2017, 6:00 p.m. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by President Ron Miller at 6:02 p.m. Roll Call: Present – President Ron Miller, Vice President Jack Elia,Secretary/Treasurer Steve Janus, George Kazmierczak, Jo Ann Engquist, Jack Van Etten, David McCray, Sue Webster and Attorney Jennifer Koethe were present. Board Member Chris Carter was absent. Quorum was met. Approval ofJanuary 25th, 2017Regular Meeting Minutes: David McCray moved that Minutes be approved as read. Steve Janusseconded the motion. All in favor. Motion passes. Claims: One claim was submitted. Steve Janus read the claim: Sue Webster for $390.00for administrative duties and $52.17 for office supplies for a total of $442.17. George Kazmierczak made a motion to approve the claim, seconded by David McCray. All in favor. Motion passes. Financial Statement: Steve Janus presented the Financial Statement for January 2017. Starting Balance for January 1, 2017 was $334,558.42. Ending Balance for January 31, 2017 was $690,927.14. A deposit was made on January 05, 2017, $12,000.00 from LaSalle Boy Scouts of America for a grant award returned and a deposit from Blue Chip Casino for $348,895.00 was made on January 30, 2017.George Kazmierczak moved to accept the Financial Statement as read, Jo Ann Engquistseconded. All in favor. Motion passes. Jo Ann Engquist discussed with the Board the need to review some of the grant awards we discussed at the January 25th Board Meeting. President Miller said we would discuss them further during the Old Business portion of the meeting. Attorney Update: Attorney Koethe reported that she and Sue Webster met in early February to go over the Grant Contracts and discuss the Contracts with Catholic Charities Diocese of Gary and the North Central Community Action Agencies, Inc. which she prepared along with the cover letters for these two agencies. The two programs involved are the Wheelchair Ramps and Vision Screening. New Business:A discussion regarding Site Visits for the 2017/2018 Grant Awards was tabled and will be placed on the April 2017 Agenda. Old Business: The Third Quarterly Report Forms were discussed by the Board. Board Members were presented with the print out from our Grant Reports program. Agencies with more than half of their grant awards remaining were discussed. The Salvation Army will be invited to our March 8th Board Meeting to discuss their Quarterly Reports and the documents needed when submitted. Three agencies have not submitted their December 2016 Quarterly Reports. These agencies are Open Door Community Alliance Medication Assistance Program, St. Stanislaus Kostka School and the Northwest Indiana Paddling Association, Inc. The Grant Applications for the 2017-2018 Grant Awards were discussed. Five agencies were discussed and the Board approved additional grant awards to each of them. Two additional agencies were discussed and approved for grant awards. All amounts are included in the spreadsheet attached to the minutes. The Grant Contracts cover letter, Affidavit and Banquet RSVP will be mailed out in the next several days. The signed Contracts, Affidavit and Banquet RSVP’s need to be returned to the MCCEC no later than March 6, 2017. Banquet details were discussed, including that if any Board Member brings a guest they will need to pay $40.00 for each guest brought to the banquet.
