Regular Meeting Minutes April 11, 2018
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by President Ron Miller at
5:03 p.m.
Roll Call: Present — President Ron Miller, Vice-President Jack Elia,
Secretary/Treasurer Steve Janus, Jack Van Etten, Chris Carter, David
McCray, George Kazmierczak and Sue Webster. Jo Ann Engquist was
absent. Attorney Jennifer Koethe was also present. A quorum was reached.
Approval of Minutes: Steve Janus moved to approve the March 14, 2018
Minutes as read. George Kazmierczak seconded. All in favor. Motion carries.
Financial Statement: Steve Janus presented the Financial Statement. Past
balance was $667,415.07. Disbursements totaled $639,637.89. Current
balance is $31,477.16. George Kazmierczak moved to approve the Financial
Statement. David McCray seconded. All in favor. Motion carries.
Claims: Steve Janus presented the Administrative Assistant Susan Webster's
claim for $170.00, office supply claims $59.59, Blue Chip Banquet Fees
$3833.52 and Attorney fees for $2933.33. George Kazmierczak moved to
pay the claims. David McCray seconded. All in favor. Motion carries.
Attorney Update: Attorney Koethe advised the Board that Harbour Trust
had mislabeled two disbursements to Sue Webster as small gifts, instead
of office supplies and administrative expense on the March Financial
Statement. The Board requested that Attorney Koethe send Harbour
Trust a letter requesting that they correct the entries on the March
Financial Statement.
Attorney Koethe called for Nominations for the Election of Officers. George
Kazmierczak nominated the same slate of current officers, Ron Miller as
President, Jack Elia as Vice President and Steve Janus as
Secretary/Treasurer. Steve Janus seconded the nominations. No other
nominations were made and nominations were closed. All in favor.
New Business: Quarterly Report Status from Sue Webster. The Samaritan
Counseling Centers, Inc. has not submitted a quarterly report for March
2018.
Additionally, the Salvation Army Men's Shelter needs to correct their March
2018 quarterly report to reflect allowable expenses under the grant
contract. Attorney Koethe was requested to send letters to the Samaritan
Counseling Centers, Inc, and the Salvation Army on behalf of the Board.
Each Board member and Attorney Koethe received a letter from the Dunes
Art Foundation regarding the denial of their grant. President, Ron Miller will
send a letter to the Dunes Art Foundation correcting information in the letter
sent to the Board.
Old Business: None.
Next Board Meeting: Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. Meeting will be
held in a meeting room at the Michigan City, City Hall.
Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at 5:41 p.m.
