MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MICHIGAN CITY, INDIANA, HELD ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2021 The Commissioners of the Housing Authority of the City of Michigan City, Indiana held a regular board meeting on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. The meeting began at 3:30 p.m. and was held at the Michigan City Housing Authority, 621 East Michigan Boulevard, Michigan City, Indiana 46360 via Zoom. Attendees at this meeting included Chairperson Milton Malone, Vice Chairperson Lester Norvell, Commissioner Doretha Sanders Malone, and Commissioner Willie Lee. Commissioner Carla Mock, Commissioner Kenneth Fly, and Commissioner Christine Vanderborg did not attend this meeting. Attorney Nelson Pichardo did not attend this meeting. There were no public attendees. Housing Authority employees included Executive Director Sharon Hutton, Finance Technical Assistant Chris Vincent, Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Housing Manager Kathy Howell, Accounts Receivables Rochelle Allison, Maintenance Clerk Belinda Corleyturnipseed, and Administrator Blanche Meriweather. CALL TO ORDER: At that time Finance Technical Assistant Vincent asked everyone attending via Zoom to unmute themselves and then mute when you hear your name. Chairperson Malone called out Mr. Norvell who said present. Chairperson Malone called out Mr. Lee who said present. Chairperson Malone called out Mrs. Sanders-Malone who said present. Chairperson Malone called out Ms. Carla Mock who was not present. Chairperson Malone called out Mr. Fly who was not present. Chairperson Malone called out Christine Vanderborg who was not present. Chairperson Malone said that because there is a quorum, the meeting can proceed. Pledge Allegiance Silent Meditation OLD BUSINESS: NEW BUSINESS: Hiring of Executive Director Chairperson Malone called for approval to hire an Executive Director for the Housing Authority of the City of Michigan City, Indiana. He asked the personnel committee for a recommendation based upon review of the applicants for the position. At that time Commissioner Lee stated that after reviewing the applications, the Personnel Committee recommends Sharon Hutton as the Executive Director of the Michigan City Housing Authority. Chairperson Malone asked for approval by the Board based upon the recommendation by the Personnel Committee. At that time Vice Chairperson Norvell motioned that Sharon Hutton be hired as the Executive Director of the Michigan City Housing Authority. Commissioner Lee seconded the motion. Chairperson Malone stated that at 3:42 p.m. on February 11, 2021, Sharon Hutton was awarded the position of Executive Director for the Housing Authority of the City of Michigan City, Indiana. ADJOURNMENT: Chairperson Malone called for adjournment of the special Board meeting. Vice Chairperson Norvell motioned to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Lee seconded the motion.
