Michigan Blvd. Michigan City, IN 46360 219-873-1570 * pdcornm@emichigancity.com Michigan City Police Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes: November 12, 2014. President Pliske called the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m. A quorum was noted with Commissioners John Pliske, Michael Buda and Dennis Pickens all in attendance. Also present was Police Chief Mark Swistek, Assistant Police Chief Tim Richardson, and Councilman Pat Boy. Commissioner Buda made a motion to accept the minutes from the October 8, 2014 meeting. Commissioner Pickens 2nd. Ayes 3 Nays 0; Motion Carries Old Business- Chief Swistek stated that Officer Kobita was off his 1 year probation and is now at 1st Class Patrolman. His probation ended the end of October. The two results from the polygraphs have been turned over to the commission, and that right now the department is at 88 officers and they are budgeted for 90. The Police Departments website has been redone and there is a lot of information on it. He has asked that everyone please take a look at it. And that the Facebook page has also been updated. Report from Assistant Chief- Assistant Chief Tim Richardson stated crime has been down now for that 4th year in a row now. He wanted to thank the staff for doing an excellent job. Commission Comments- Commissioner Pickens wanted to congratulate Officer Brian Wright on receiving the Exceptional Service Award and Officer James Chamberlain for receiving the Life Saving Award. At this time Commissioner Pickens also wanted to thank all the Veterans. Commissioner Pliske asked if all the transfers have been done and Chief Swistek stated all transfers will be completed by December 1. Attorney Comment- No Report Report from Councilman Pat Boy- Pat wanted to thank all the Veterans as well as the officers and the commissioners. Commissioner Pickens made a motion to adjourn, Commissioner Buda 2nd. Next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 11:00 am. John Pliske Commissioner
