Michigan Blvd. * Michigan City, IN 46360 * Telephone: (219) 873-1570 * Emergency: Dial 911 Michigan City Police Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes: May 11, 2016 Commissioner Pliske called the meeting to order at 11:00 a.m. A quorum was noted with Commissioners John Pliske, Mike Buda, and Mike Palmer in attendance. Also present was Assistant Police Chief Royce Williams and City Council Liaison Pat Boy. Commissioner Buda made a motion to accept all the minutes as presented from the regular meeting and special meetings. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Palmer and carried as follows: AYES: Members Pliske, Buda, and Palmer (3). NAYS: None (0). Motion Carries. Probationary Officers Report- Assistant Police Chief Royce Williams updated the Commissioners on the Probationary Officers Baker, Charo and Gallegos who are at the academy and all are doing extremely well. They have successfully completed all testing so far and have also passed the most difficult part – Criminal Law. They are scheduled to graduate on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 10:00 AM. They will be off on June 25 and 26, they will be assigned to DPS on Monday June 27. This will adjust their days off to Wednesday and Thursday, coving our Kiddie Parade, Bicentennial Parade and Fireworks. They will then return to the shifts on July 7 to Phase 3 of the FTO Program and a four and two schedule. Report from Commission Attorney- No Report New Business- Assistant Police Chief Royce Williams stated the New Police Station is ahead of schedule and the department should be moved in the end of July beginning of August. Commission Comment- No Report Public Comment- No Report Report from City Council Liaison- No Report Commissioner Buda made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 11:03 AM. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Palmer and carries as follows: AYES: Members Pliske, Buda, and Palmer (3). NAYS None (0). Motion Carries.
