Minutes Michigan City Public Art Committee Mayors Conference Room November 20, 2022 10:00 am Call to Order: Robin Kohn Attendees: Kathy Dennis, CarolAnn Brown, Matt Kubik, John Ryszka, Jane Daley, Shannon Eason Minutes: Minutes from the October regular meeting were reviewed Motion It was moved (Dennis) and seconded (Eason) to accept the minutes. The motion carried unanimously. Financial Report: The financial report for October was reviewed: The operating fund has a balance of $917.00 The gifts & donations fund has a balance of $2,124.13. Motion It was moved (Daley) and seconded (Cooper) to accept the financial reports as presented. The motion carried unanimously. Ms. Eason explained that there was a need to transfer some funds. Motion It was moved (Daley) and seconded (Cooper) to transfer of $1,167.00 from Other Rentals to Contractual Services. The motion carried unanimously Public Comment: There was no public Old Business:  Kiosk in Westcott Park - Subcommittee: Dale Cooper, John Ryszka and Matt Kubik Ms. Cooper reported that the Naomi Anderson posters will be ordered soon and placed in the kiosk in the spring.  Report concerning a percentage for art from Redevelopment – Subcommittee-Judy Jacobi (chairperson) Matt Kubik, CarolAnn Brown, Robin Kohn, Shannon Eason, Janet Bloch, Don Przybylinski, Kathy Dennis The subcommittee met again in November and Ms. Jacobi sent a lengthy report to all committee members. The subcommittees hard work is appreciated, so MAC asks that the subcommittee push on to a final report with an ordinance and an elevator speech.  Otocast – Mr. Ryszka reported that the signage for each sculpture will be placed in the spring. He is still working on the flier and it is near completion. The flier will given to the public and other businesses and organizations let themknow about the advantages and the cost.  Fund Raisers (including 5K Run)  Adding a Public Art Element to Observation Deck - Subcommittee Eaton, Daley, Dennis On going  Neighborhood Art Committee/Murals for Canada Park– Subcommittee: Dale Cooper, John Krystal, Shannon Eason, Janet Bloch, Matt Kubik, Kathy Dennis, CarolAnn Brown Mr. Ryszka has contacted the high school art departments and found some interest there. Ms. Dennis is still looking for a grant for this project.  Repaint Dasein & Faust This project is on the park departments spring schedule New Business  Sculptfusion – Moving other sculpture pieces This project has been put on hold until spring.  Adding Private Art to Otocast On going  Moving “You are Beautiful” Ms. Dennis reported that when the time comes to move the piece the the cost will be worked into the building cost, however the appropriate site is still a priority and the committee is asked to share their best site idea with Ms. Eason asap.  Ram sculpture donation Motion: It was moved (Kubik) and seconded by (Daley) to approve the donation of the ram sculpture pending approval by the BOW. The motion carried unanimously.  Loss of Clairvoyance The sculpture Clairvoyance that was on the intersection of US 12 and Michigan Blvd was hit by a car and may not be repairable.
