ANTI-RACISM TASK FORCE
MIDDLETOWN, CONNECTICUT
SPECIAL MEETING
FEBRUARY 8, 2021
Present: Precious Price, Chair Sacha Armstrong-Crockett, Valerie Light, Councilman Phil
Pessina, Councilman Gene Nocera, Patricia Alston, Brian Gartner, Stacey Berka, Bobbye Knoll
Peterson, Samantha Rival, Kayon Morgan, Councilman Ed Ford Jr., Kirk Hart, Mayor
Benjamin D. Florsheim, Dr. Viviana Conner.
1. Call to Order.
Meeting was called to order at 6:03 p.m.
2. Public Comment.
No public in attendance. Dr. Viviana Conner made a MOTION to close public comment. The
Motion was seconded by Councilman Ed Ford Jr. The Motion passed unanimously.
3. Approval of Minutes:
MOTION: Brian Gartner made a MOTION to approve the minutes of the January 11, 2021
Anti-Racism Task Force Special Meeting. The Motion was seconded by Stacey Barka. The
Motion passed unanimously.
4. New Business.
A. Discussion of NCCJ Report - Labor Equity, Criminal Justice, Information Equity,
Housing, Community Mailboxes, Education Equity, Health, COVID initiative and
education within the community, Climate, and Community Building.
B. Civilian Review Board (CRB) – discussion of other city models and state guidelines to
develop the language for Middletown’s CRB.
C. Discussion of RFP process for Strategic Planning.
D. Discussed and voted for a Special Meeting on February 22, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. for FOIA
and RRO workshop training with General Counsel. Dr. Viviana Conner made a
MOTION to approve the meeting. The Motion was seconded by Valerie Light. The
Motion passed unanimously.
5. Adjournment.
MOTION to adjourn made by Valerie Light. The MOTION was seconded by Councilman Ed
Ford Jr. The Motion passed unanimously.
Meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:15 p.m.
